Now Boys …don’t be givin me the stink eye. I know you know what I’m talking about šŸ˜‚.

You don’t like to be told by me …your mum …or your wife. We know.

But yeah …I’m game if you are!

If you’re a guy …and you’re having some issues (painting the toilet bowl, excessive farting, spending too much time in the toilet ….wait this all sounds pretty common 😳) …I’m here. You know where I am. Feel free to book in or, if you must, get your wife (or mum?šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø) to book you in …but they can’t do the work for you.

If you’re coming …you’re coming to work šŸ¤—.

What happens when we just use Nerva consistently for 6 weeks?

Most people avoid whole food groups when they try to fix their gut issues.

But for this test …there’s no special diet and no supplements.

If you want to be one of the 2 people …and you can commit to the 6 week trial, comment GUT, and I’ll send you some details.

2 people. 6 weeks.

Not diet. Not supplements.

I’m testing what ACTUALLY changes.

If your gut symptoms are ongoing AND you know you’ll COMMIT
…comment GUT.

I’ll send details and choose 2 people in the next few days.

Is your *IBS ....SIBO? 😱 Confusing, isn’t it? Doesn’t need to be though
IBS is a label …not a diagnosis.

It’s what you’re told when tests come back ā€œnormalā€ā€¦ but your gut definitely isn’t.
Under that label, there can be a lot going on:
🤰 microbiome imbalances
🤰 SIBO
🤰 motility issues
🤰 visceral hypersensitivity

But instead of digging deeper… your doctor often stops at IBS.

It’s thought that around 70% (give or take) of IBS sufferers have SIBO. So if you’ve been told that you have IBS (*cough ....lazy diagnosis) ....there’s a bloody good chance that you ACTUALLY have SIBO (like ....’buy a lotto ticket’ good chance).

šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøThe jury seems to be out on the population stats for SIBO ....but we all know AT LEAST one person with IBS ...so, ya know ....that number is gonna be high.

Did you get the lazy diagnosis? Want an un-lazy one? We don’t stop at IBS.
We test properly. We find the cause. We treat THAT.

Another day, another bottle of pomegranate husk.

It’s not winning any flavour awards (*bitter AF), but in a gut clinic it’s one of my most-used herbs.

This one goes into almost every SIBO and microbiome mix I make. Why? Because it does a lot at once.

It’s antimicrobial, antiparasitic AND prebiotic.
So while it helps inhibit pathogenic bacteria, fungi (hello candida) and parasites, it also feeds beneficial microbes 🦠 .

Add to that:
• anti-inflammatory
• antioxidant
• helps reduce visceral hypersensitivity in the gut
• supports prevention and repair of peptic ulcers

It can also help with things like brain fog and immune modulation.

For patients who come in saying, ā€œI can only eat five foodsā€ — this is often the first herb I reach for.

If your gut feels like it’s in rough shape, microbiome testing (such as Microba or Biomesight) can help identify what pathogens may be present or where your microbiome is out of balance.

2 cups daily for 2 months = 88% of participants in the tea group testing NEGATIVE for SIBO ...compared to just 4.2% in the control group.
Yes, it was a small study.
Yes, olive tea can taste kinda gross.
But 88% of the tea group tested negative for SIBO after just 2 months.

This is absolutely a worthy addition to your SIBO treatment plan.

If you're keen to supplement your SIBO treatment plan with some Organic Olive Leaf Tea, you can find it in The Dispensary (link in bio). Each bag contains enough for exactly 2 cups daily for 2 months.

Sometimes it’s not the bread. It’s your bacteria.

Ok ok …..sometimes it IS the bread.

You've got:
🫩 Bloating
🫩 Constipation
🫩 Cramping
🫩 Gas
🫩 Loose bowels/Diarrhoea

Taking out the gluten is a good, FIRST option.
But there’s just one problem ...It's not the ONLY option ( ….pluuuus you might not have done the gluten free thang properly 🫣 )

At the risk of sounding… like Yoda, (...hmm: the gut, know it well you must.)

Here’s what else it could be:
🤰 SIBO - SMALL INTESTINE Bacterial Overgrowth.
🤰 ā€œIBSā€ - the real kind …not the lazy BS diagnosis kind.
🤰 Dysbiosis - a fancy way of saying that your microbiome is out of whack.
🤰 Leaky Gut - AKA Intestinal Permeability …which often stems from one of the 3 (or more) above.

So, in order to work out what the ROOT CAUSE of your symptoms are ….do this:
1ļøāƒ£ Check your gluten tolerance PROPERLY:
Avoid all gluten like your Coeliac. All of it.
Leave gluten out for 6 whole weeks. Gluten can take 6 weeks to completely leave your system AFTER taking it all out. You need a MINIMUM of 6 weeks of ALL gluten (…I know 🫩 )
2ļøāƒ£ Do COMPREHENSIVE SIBO Testing.
3ļøāƒ£ Do a full Microbiome check and don’t ignore the GI Markers (these tell a story)
4ļøāƒ£ Intestinal Permeability testing is going to give valuable info on how damaged the gut wall is ….and this CAN be related to a lifetime of gluten issues.

If you want less trial and error, and more ….for the love of god, please do it for me! BOOK IN through the link in my Bio.

…And other wisdom that I’m still learning after 20+ years as a Naturopath.

We’re always still learning. Still being reminded that we’re not all the same.

And I love these universal reminders that ā€¦ā€no lovey, you do still need remindersā€.
