Hello everyone, Annette here - Managing Director of CEQ. I know there are so many things taking up our time, energy and emotion, however I believe the NDIS legistlation currently before the parliament has targeted people with disabilities to cause division and government fundraising to balance a budget. Balancing a budget by removing support for some of the most vulnerable people in our community. Here are a few links to information. Please do your own research and look closely at the proposals before our parliament.

For me personally, there are so many things in this current round of legislation that return us to an era I had thought long past - a time before the Disability Services Act of 1986. An era where institutional care small and large was the norm and people with disabilities were 'hidden' if not deliberately - at least because there was no understanding of supporting an included, productive life. We know that this type of care provided by large organisations (church, state and other) actually costs a lot more than the small individual support teams many of us have and are looking for (Productivity Commission research recommending the NDIS back at the beginning of all of this) and much harm and neglect was and is possible in many of the environments that are being proposed currently.

It is devastating to hear the way in which people with disabilities are being talked about in parliament and in the community - rhetoric that has been given permission to be "said out loud" due to the way in which the legislation takes control away from disabled people and their families.

There is little in the legislation that addresses the system that has grown up around the NDIS - currently all of the dollars saved are not from the flawed government system but from those who are trying to lead their best lives with support to be contributing, valued members of the community.

I am keenly aware that people with disability are already a minority group, an exhausted group who may be easily neglected. One way to try to have voices heard is to put SOMETHING into the Senate Enquiry. A small paragraph will suffice to ensure that your voice is registered.

Committee: Community Affairs Legislation Committee Date referred: 14 May 2026 Submissions close: 29 May 2026 Reporting date: 16 June 2026 On 14 May 2026 the Senate referred the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 202

Please find the time to listen to this. The disability community is already small. The latest NDIS bill will affect EVERYONE. Do not let the government divide this minority community and don’t believe there is safety in your diagnosis. Please give feedback to the government in any way you can.

Standing together for the NDIS 💜

Across Australia this weekend, communities came together to support the future of the NDIS. Because behind every plan, every support, and every service… is a person, a family, and a life being built.

We believe in a system that continues to support dignity, inclusion, and real participation in everyday life.
