GEM Support Coordination

GEM Support Coordination NDIS navigation, connecting YOU with individualised supports & services to achieve your goals! Hi! And so, GEM Support Coordination was born! Why Gem?
(1)

I’m Meagan, and I am the owner and director of Gem Support Coordination. Having been involved with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) since its inception, I have an immense depth of understanding of the NDIS framework surpassing many others in the industry, making me best placed to assist clients to do the same. My Disability History
My

15 year history in the Disability Sector spans many roles, from support worker, accommodation coordinator, Workplace Health & Safety, NDIS Senior Local Area Coordinator (LAC), Behavioural Practitioner and more. With a Diploma in Community Services, I have gained valuable insights and outcomes into the disabled community, and their diverse needs. I pride myself on keeping up with the latest changes and additions to the NDIS agency, and maximising these changes for the benefit of my clients and their requirements. With my extensive experience navigating the complex roadmaps of the NDIS, I can clearly advocate for my clients and persevere and persist for the supports they are entitled to. After working for other companies as a Support Coordinator, I felt as though I was in the right industry, but with the wrong motivations. KPI’s, high caseloads and internal pressures detracted from the very important work we were doing. I sought a more intimate, big-picture journey where I was involved with my clients from the beginning, assisting and supporting them to fulfill their goals and work towards their ideal lifestyle. My vision is to create a supportive space to assist my disability clients, providing clear and concise information on the services and supports they are entitled to under their NDIS plan. Having a deep passion for Opal mining, I reflected on how my search would be for ‘Gem Quality’ stones; each stone having its very own unique brilliance and quality. Once you find your Gem? You get an innate sense of achievement and fulfillment for your efforts. Support Coordination can be a challenging responsibility at times, however it's also one of the most rewarding. Using my skill set to help clients understand their NDIS plan and start achieving some life changing outcomes is what drives me every day. Taking the stress and confusion out of the process is such a relief for my clients and I'm happy I am able to do that. Patience, not complacence
Improvement and growth is something we should always be aiming for. Within my organisation, there is no room for stagnancy or ‘just enough’ effort. My role (and my client’s lifestyle!) is genuinely and directly affected by my efforts and understanding; enabling them to continue to grow, as Gem continues to expand. Patience and understanding is key and something I try to continue building on every day. My 3 year plan is to grow Gem SC into a small organisation that provides a top quality service, with clients as the focal point. I excel at helping clients to navigate NDIS pathways and their processes, and how best to use them. Helping clients to understand each section of their plan and how it can be used, while developing an appropriate support budget to facilitate these needs, is essential to growth for both Gem SC and my clients. Many of my clients suffer from overwhelm and have difficulty knowing what they are entitled to and how to go about accessing it. If I can simplify the process for my clients and allay their concerns whilst providing continued care, then it’s a job well done. As a parent with a neurodivergent child, I have first hand experience on navigating an NDIS plan and the way that looks from a parents perspective. These supports - once accessed - are life-changing. I can’t wait to assist you on your way to living your ideal lifestyle. Get in touch!

💜💎Our very own Gem, Mel Vivian has signed up for the All Night Long 42 km Walk to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
The money raised helps support families with seriously ill or injured children, giving them a place to stay close to their child while they receive treatment. ❤️
Every donation, big or small, helps.
Thank you for your support 🙏

Each day can feel like a marathon for sick kids and their families. That’s why I’m walking 42km overnight this October to raise funds and show my support. It’s going to be tough. I’ll be exhausted by the end. But that’s nothing compared to what these families go through. Please donate what...

🌿 NDIS Changes Announced – What You Need to Know 🌿

Following the recent announcement by the NDIS Minister, significant reforms to the scheme have been proposed to ensure its long-term sustainability.

🔎 Key confirmed changes include:
• A reduction in funding for Social and Community Participation supports
• A shift towards eligibility based on functional capacity rather than diagnosis
• Approximately 160,000 participants expected to transition out of the NDIS by 2030
• A reduction in average plan budgets over time

📉 What this may mean for participants:
• Possible reductions in overall plan funding
• Changes to how supports (especially community access) are funded
• Reassessments of eligibility, particularly from 2027–2028 onwards

🗓 Timeline (what we know so far):
• Some changes expected to begin from mid–late 2026
• Further planning and framework changes rolling out through 2027
• Broader eligibility reassessments expected from 2028
• Transition of participants occurring gradually through to 2030

💡 Important to know:
At this stage, most participants’ current plans will remain in place until their review date. Changes will be introduced progressively over time, not immediately.

🤝 We’re here to support you
We understand this news may feel uncertain. Gem SC will continue to support you in navigating these changes, understanding your plan, and preparing for any future reviews.
