Tiny hands, big expression 🎶
There’s something powerful about watching a child at a piano.

Not just the notes they press, but the intention, the rhythm, the pauses, the experimenting, the joy.

This is communication in its earliest and most natural form - through play.

At Playful Paediatrics, we don’t rush to “fix” or formalise these moments. We lean in. We observe. We connect. Because before words come understanding, regulation, shared attention, and joy.

And from there… communication grows.

Every tap of a key is a step in expression. Every pause is processing. Every smile is connection.

🎶 Play is never just play. It’s how children learn to be with us, and how we learn to meet them where they are.

When adults notice and respond to these early signals, children learn that their communication matters.

Such a special morning at Busy Bees Coorparoo 💛

Our speechies Coni and Abi spent the morning connecting with the most beautiful group of children during our kindy communication screenings - full of smiles, curiosity, and those little moments that remind us why early support matters so much.

A big thank you to Renee and the entire team for being so warm, welcoming, and open to collaboration. It truly makes all the difference when educators and therapists work together to support children in a way that feels safe, connected, and meaningful.

Kindy communication screening is something we’re passionate about - it’s a gentle, proactive way to understand how children are communicating, interacting, and engaging, and to support families and educators early if needed.

⭐️We go outside, because regulation doesn’t live at a table.
⭐️We slow things down, because children need time, not pressure.
⭐️We build connection first, because communication grows from feeling safe.

This isn’t about ticking boxes or rushing milestones.

It’s about understanding your child, meeting them where they are, and creating the kind of moments where communication can naturally unfold. ❤️

On my way to advocate for communication access… because every child deserves to be heard 💬✨

At Playful Paediatrics, we believe that all communication is valid - whether it’s words, gestures, AAC, sounds, or behaviour. Communication isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it’s not something children need to “earn” - it’s a human right.

When we honour how a child communicates, we open the door to connection, regulation, and meaningful relationships 🤍

Let’s keep creating spaces where every voice is valued - in every form. 💜

There’s something powerful about slowing down together 🌿

Yesterday the PP team stepped out into our community… collecting little pieces of nature as we reflected on the start of the year - the wins, the challenges, the growth, and everything in between.

Each stem, each flower, a reminder that progress doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful 💛
Just like the children and families we support, growth happens in real environments, in small moments, and through connection.
Here’s to continuing to nurture, reflect, and grow - together 🌼
