Hello, Woolloongabba đź‘‹

As spring rolls in, we thought we’d reintroduce ourselves. Meet the team looking after your family at South City Doctors.

We’re a family practice in South City Square, and our GPs each bring their own strengths, so there’s the right fit for whatever you need 👇

◻️Dr Vivian Cham - our principal GP, with a special interest in women’s and children’s health.
◻️ Dr Sabrina Lee - cares for the whole family, with special interests in women’s and children’s health and chronic-disease management, plus a background in mental health.
◻️ Dr Monika Coha - holds a dedicated Certificate of Women’s Health, with a background in family planning and gynaecological dermatology. She has a special interest in women’s health and paediatric care.
◻️ Dr Angela An-Chi Chang - fluent in Mandarin and English, so you can be cared for in your own language, with special interests in women’s health and aged care.
◻️ Dr Justin Van Den Haspel - an urgent-care background makes him a go-to for those sudden illnesses and injuries, alongside men’s health and chronic-disease care.

Whoever you see, you’re in good hands. New patients are welcome - book online (link in our bio) or call (07) 3156 0555.

We’re open Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm.

It was an incredible performance and we are so proud of Alex for this achievement ✨

This week we’re celebrating the birthdays of two of our superstars - our amazing receptionist Lilliana and our wonderful nurse Bryalee 🫶

Without their hard work, dedication to patient care and great music taste, South City Doctors just wouldn’t be the same. Wishing you both the happiest of birthdays!

Could your everyday habits be increasing your risk of chronic disease?

The small choices we make each day can have a big impact on our long-term health.

Not getting enough physical activity, sitting for long periods, eating a diet high in processed foods, smoking, drinking alcohol regularly, or missing out on quality sleep can all increase your risk of chronic conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure.

The good news is that even small, sustainable changes can make a real difference. You don't need to change everything overnight—every healthy choice adds up.

If you're ready to take a proactive approach to your health, our GPs are here to help. Whether you're due for a health check, want to better understand your risk factors, or need support creating a realistic plan, we're here for you.

Many people with bowel cancer experience no symptoms in the early stages, which is why screening is so important. Changes in bowel habits, blood in the stool, unexplained weight loss, or ongoing abdominal discomfort should never be ignored.

This Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, take a moment to check if you're eligible for screening and speak with your GP about your individual risk factors.

A simple conversation could make all the difference. đź’™

When was the last time you checked in on your health?

Between work, family, and life's endless to-do list, it's easy to put your own wellbeing on the back burner. But looking after your health isn't just about fixing problems when they appear, it's about staying on top of them before they start.

This Men's Health Week, we're encouraging men to prioritise their health, whether that's booking a check-up, discussing a new concern, or reviewing ongoing conditions.

Our GPs can help with:
✔️ General health checks
✔️ Heart health and blood pressure
✔️ Men's health concerns
✔️ Mental wellbeing
✔️ Preventive care and screening

A simple appointment today can make a big difference tomorrow. đź’™

As the weather cools down, flu season starts creeping in, and for people living with heart conditions, it can be more serious than many realise.

Illnesses like the flu can place extra stress on the heart, increasing the risk of complications such as chest infections, hospitalisation, and worsening heart symptoms.

That’s why staying up to date with your flu vaccination, managing existing conditions, and checking in with your GP before winter hits can make a real difference. 💚

If you have heart disease, high blood pressure, or other cardiovascular concerns, now’s the perfect time to prepare for the colder months ahead.

Book online or call (07) 3156 0555 to speak with one of our GPs.

"I only wear sunscreen in summer" - why that’s risky in Queensland.

Queensland sunshine doesn’t take a season off... and neither should your sunscreen. 🌞

Even during the cooler months, UV levels can still be high enough to damage your skin and especially here in the Sunshine State. That quick coffee run, morning walk, or drive to work? It all adds up over time.

Daily sun protection helps reduce the risk of skin damage and skin cancer, which is why wearing SPF shouldn’t stop when summer ends.

Slip, slop, slap - all year round. And if you’ve noticed any new or changing spots, book in for a skin check with one of our GPs.

Call (07) 3156 0555 or book online today.
