Something very special is happening in Bellingen later this month...

For the first time, one of the Institute of Living Aloha’s new teachers, Lizzie Doyle, will be stepping forward to teach our 6-Day Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage Training—and they’ll be doing so back on the homelands where they grew up.

Lizzie still visits Bellingen regularly and has long dreamed of helping Lomilomi become more available within the local community. It brings me so much joy to see them now bringing this sacred and life-changing practice home.

Founder, Charlie Snow, will be there supporting Lizzie and assisting throughout the training as they take this exciting next step in their teaching journey.

This is a q***r-led, inclusive training offering much more than massage techniques. It is an opportunity to deepen your connection with yourself and others, learn a beautiful healing practice to share within your community, and become part of our wider ʻohana of Aloha Warriors.

We are deeply honoured to be hosting Kumu Jeana’s first Australian trainings near Castlemaine VIC, from 28 February–5 March 2027.

This is a rare opportunity to learn directly from a Hawaiian teacher without travelling internationally.

Kumu Jeana’s trainings include a strong focus on Anatomy & Physiology. To support Lomilomi Practitioners who may not have studied this previously, one of our Lomilomi ‘Ohana will offer a three-part online series later this year, informed by what Kumu Jeana will be teaching.

These online workshops will be open to Lomilomi practitioners from all schools and lineages—not only graduates of the Institute of Living Aloha. Full details will be shared soon.

A deeply meaningful new chapter has begun for the Institute of Living Aloha🌺✨

I am so proud and happy to introduce Lizzie Doyle, Dahna McConnachie and Alice Peebles, who have graduated as Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage Teachers.

They are the first people I have taught to teach this work, making this an incredibly significant and special milestone for all of us.
This Teacher Training Pathway is the culmination of more than 20 years of my life’s work — practicing, teaching, learning and continually refining the Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage Training, while listening deeply for how these teachings could one day be passed forward with aloha, integrity and respect.

The pathway is for people who have trained with me over a number of years, become Senior Lomilomi Practitioners, and demonstrated through their practice, service and ongoing learning that they are ready to step into this next level of kuleana. It is not simply the next training to complete, but a deepening commitment to this work, its lineage and the ʻohana they will support as teachers.

Throughout this journey, I have felt the loving guidance of Papa K in spirit, along with Aunty Mahealani and many other kūmu and Kūpuna. Papa K’s trust and permission have continued to guide me, and I feel his presence very strongly in this next chapter.

Becoming a Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage teacher is about much more than learning how to teach massage techniques. It carries the kuleana to honour the lineage and culture from which these teachings come, to remain a lifelong learner, and to share what has been entrusted to us with humility, care and respect.

Each of these remarkable people brings their own unique gifts, experiences and way of expressing aloha. Throughout the Teacher Training Pathway, they have been encouraged to develop their own authentic voices as teachers, while remaining grounded in the foundations, values and lineage of this work.

It has been an immense privilege to witness their dedication, courage and growth, and to see them step into this next part of their own huakaʻi.

✨ NEW BLOG: FORGIVENESS — THE WEIGHT WE CARRY ✨

What if forgiveness is not about deciding whether another person deserves it, but about asking whether we deserve to keep carrying what happened?

In our latest blog, Lomilomi Practitioner Georgia Karstens explores forgiveness as a gradual practice of releasing the burdens that keep us tethered to the past.

Drawing upon personal experience, Hawaiian wisdom and the teaching of the Bowl of Light—Ka Ipu Kukui—Georgia reflects on how hurt, grief, guilt and resentment can become like stones carried within us. Forgiveness does not mean forgetting, excusing harm or pretending something was acceptable. It can be an act of self-love: allowing the lesson to remain while gently releasing the suffering attached to it.

“With every stone we release, we become a little lighter, a little freer, and a little closer to the person we have always been beneath the weight.”

What an incredible six days we shared together on beautiful Gimuy Country (Cairns).

It has been an honour to witness this group immerse themselves in the heart of Spiritual Hawaiian Lomilomi Massage with such openness, courage, compassion and aloha. Over the course of the training, they learned not only practical lomilomi skills, but also the Hawaiian wisdom that underpins this beautiful healing art and the power of healing through loving touch.

Congratulations to each of you on completing your huakaʻi. Thank you for listening to the call of your naʻau, and for the care and aloha you brought to one another throughout the journey.
