Meet Dr Kate Johnston, a 2025 AMA Queensland Foundation GPTQ Bursary recipient. Dr Johnston was supported by the Foundation to undertake a study evaluating timely access to collaborative care through Gold Coast Health's General Practice Advice Service. The bursary has helped the study progress through ethics approvals, with GP interviews now underway.
Dr Johnston, who has spent most of her career on the Gold Coast in primary care, public health, educational, academic and management roles is looking forward to eventual publication of her findings.
In 2026 up to three $20,000 bursaries will be awarded to Queensland GP registrars or GP specialists wanting to undergo additional training or those seeking to conduct research. Applications are open now and close 30 September – tell us your idea and how we can support you in your practice!
