Health workers step up every day to help their patients. We’re proud to honour their courage and sacrifice through community memorials, alongside other Queensland peak health bodies

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, health workers showed up with courage and compassion — often without vaccines or the protective equipment they needed. Many gave everything to keep the rest of us safe.

We’re the Health Workers of Queensland COVID-19 Memorial Association, and we exist to make sure their dedication is never forgotten. Our goal is to create lasting memorials across Queensland that honour their service and preserve their legacy for generations to come.

Follow along as we build this together. 🤍

As a researcher, I'm passionate about generating evidence that improves health outcomes, but I also recognise the importance of having a strong voice advocating for change. AMA Queensland provides opportunities to engage with the issues shaping healthcare and ensures doctors' perspectives are represented in policy and advocacy discussions.

Membership has also connected me with a diverse network of clinicians, researchers and healthcare leaders through events and professional networking opportunities. These connections have opened doors to new collaborations, ideas and perspectives that have enriched my work.

I've also had the opportunity to participate in leadership programs such as the AICD Company Directors Course™, building my skills in governance, strategy and leadership alongside healthcare peers.

For me, AMA Queensland membership is about being part of a community that's helping shape the future of healthcare.

That's why I am a member - Professor Paul Griffin

We know regional Queenslanders are waiting far too long for outpatients appointments, treatment and surgery. The government's own reports state patients are suffering worse outcomes than their city cousins.
AMA Queensland has started an outpatients working group to give profession-led solutions to the crisis. Every Queenslander deserves health care when they need it and where they live.

A woman gave up finding out if she had breast cancer and a man spent months wearing a catheter – this is the alarming reality facing patients in regional Queensland.
