There was work to be done.

Very little work was done.

There was, however, spinning, questionable decision making and whatever the hell this was. 😂

Just another completely normal day at MindScope.

We take our work seriously.

Ourselves? Absolutely not!

Access to diagnosis matters.

Having the right language to understand yourself and explain your experiences can be life changing. You can’t underestimate what it means to finally have words for things you’ve spent years trying to make sense of.

Diagnosis isn’t “just a label”. For many people, it’s understanding, context, access to the right support, and finally being able to say "This is what’s happening and this is what I need."

We are incredibly proud of our Disability & Inclusion Clinician, Kirstie, who travelled to Canberra yesterday to present to the Senate Committee inquiry into the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Amendment Bill currently before Parliament.

As both a clinician and a person with lived experience of disability, Kirstie had the opportunity to contribute evidence about the potential impacts of the proposed legislative changes and the importance of ensuring the voices of people with disability are included in policy discussions.

At MindScope, we believe that listening to the lived experiences of disabled people, alongside clinical knowledge and evidence, leads to better outcomes. We are proud to support meaningful advocacy that promotes inclusion, participation and the rights of people with disability.

Q: Do you have any fun facts to share?

A: I've played in a band for the past 10 years, played at most major venues around Brisbane
I'm an Advanced Scuba Diver
I enjoy hiking and bouldering trips
I enjoy fantasy, adventure, literary fiction books
My Top 3 video games are Zelda Breath of the Wild, Witcher 3 & Expedition 33

A: Stories: hearing/creating them through music, art, books, video games, people

Q: Why are you a psych? What do you love most about being a psych?

A: I find it easy and enjoyable to listen to peoples stories and understanding what has lead them to think the way they do

That’s a wrap on another incredible conference!

What an amazing two days of learning, connection, collaboration, and conversations that reminded us why this work matters.

A huge thank you to everyone who visited the MindScope stand. Whether you stopped by to chat, asked about multidisciplinary assessments, grabbed one (or several!) of our free resources, or simply came over to say hello 🫶🏻 we loved meeting every one of you.

It was wonderful to connect with so many passionate clinicians.

Thank you to the organisers, presenters, volunteers, exhibitors and everyone who helped make the conference such a success. We leave feeling inspired, energised (despite the sore feet!), and grateful to be part of such an incredible community.

Now it’s time to unpack the dinosaur, catch up on some sleep, and start putting all of these wonderful ideas into practice.

The MindScope Dinosaur has officially arrived at the conference.

The humans, meanwhile, have been surviving on caffeine, snacks, and the unwavering belief that we definitely packed everything… probably.

If you’re at the conference, come and say hello! We’d love to chat about multidisciplinary assessments, collaborative ways of working, or simply offer a friendly place to escape the conference crowds for a few minutes.

We’ll be the slightly sleep-deprived team with the giant dinosaur, big smiles, and far too much enthusiasm for all things MindScope.
