👁️ World Ophthalmologist Day | A*O Member Spotlight
Meet Dr Judy Ku — Glaucoma & Anterior Segment Surgeon, Brisbane, Queensland.
Judy is a fellowship-trained glaucoma and anterior segment surgeon who provides medical and surgical care for patients with glaucoma, cataract and complex anterior segment disease. After completing her ophthalmology training, she pursued dual international fellowships — advanced glaucoma training at the Singapore National Eye Centre, followed by cornea, external eye disease and anterior segment surgery at the University of Toronto. Training in two world-renowned referral centres shaped the personalised, evidence-based approach she brings to her patients today.
Judy has a particular passion for advancing glaucoma surgery through research and innovation, with a focus on the evolution of interventional techniques like minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and minimally invasive bleb surgery (MIBS). She is a published author and book chapter contributor, a scientific reviewer for several glaucoma journals, and a contributor to advisory boards evaluating emerging surgical technologies — work recognised with awards from the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS).
Education runs through everything she does. As an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the Queensland University of Technology, Judy teaches locally and is a regular invited speaker across the Asia-Pacific, sharing contemporary approaches to glaucoma surgery through workshops and scientific meetings.
Beyond the clinic, Judy is a dedicated wife and mother of two boys, guided by a belief in family, balance, and mentoring the next generation.
Thank you, Judy, for the sight you protect — and for the knowledge you so generously pass on to those who'll follow. 👏
