Double the reason to celebrate today! 🎉 It’s Dr Sharp’s birthday and Father’s Day rolled into one!

Above and beyond his work as a plastic surgeon, Dr Sharp will tell you that raising four incredible women is the greatest achievement of his life. He is even prouder that they still love hanging out with him - and continue to humour his dad jokes 🤣

On behalf of the entire team, we wish Dr Sharp a wonderful birthday and a very Happy Father’s Day 💙

𝘐 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧. It’s one of the first things patients tell us when considering facelift surgery.

This can be attained by lifting underlying facial structures and tightening the overlying skin, combined with strategic fat grafting and skin resurfacing. The aim is for the face, neck, décolletage, hands and overall appearance to remain harmonious, rather than looking disconnected.

Fast facelift facts:
• Surgery: 4–5 hours
• Hospital: 1 night
• Off work: ~3 weeks
• No driving: ~2 weeks
• Support garment: 24/7 for 3 weeks, then at home for another 3 weeks
• No exercise: 6 weeks
• Minor complication risk in healthy patients: ~10%
• Major complication risk: ~1%

A facelift may be suitable for:
• Mid-face hollowing (fat grafting may restore volume, as in this case)
• Jowls/loss of jawline definition
• Loose or crepey mid/lower facial skin
• Lax neck skin or visible neck bands
• Fullness or loose skin beneath the chin

This patient underwent facelift, fat grafting and blepharoplasty with Dr Sharp, followed by fractionated resurfacing laser in our clinic. Shown 3 months after surgery.

Facelift is also known as rhytidectomy or meloplasty. Dr Sharp’s technique almost always includes a neck lift (platysmaplasty). Blepharoplasty = eyelid lift.

All procedures carry benefits, risks and a recovery period. Results vary due to factors including age, skin condition, natural body habitus, lifestyle and adherence to post-operative instructions. Images reflect this individual patient’s outcome only.

As plastic surgery evolves, so too does our approach to surgical care, recovery and patient outcomes.

Deborah, Emily, Isabella and Rose recently attended the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons’ Congress, where they explored the latest advances in recovery and healing management.

So much of a patient’s outcome depends on what happens after their surgery, and our team returned with plenty of new ideas and innovations.

Meanwhile, Dr Sharp joined his specialist plastic surgeon colleagues for the launch of the new Motiva Preservé breast augmentation technique and implant system.

This innovative approach aims to minimise tissue disruption, with the goal of a shorter recovery and reduced discomfort, in carefully selected patients. Like all techniques, it also has important indications and limitations; and careful patient selection remains essential.

We’ll be sharing more about Motiva Preservé over the coming weeks, including who it may be suitable for and how it compares with traditional breast augmentation techniques.

New products, evidence and approaches are continually shaping the practice of plastic surgery.

Our learning as a team never stops; and neither does our commitment to providing the highest standard of patient care!

Our holistic postoperative scar management program is included as part of every surgical journey with Dr Sharp for 12 months after surgery. Treatments may include infrared light therapy, microneedling, IPL or fractionated laser therapy, carefully tailored to each patient’s healing progress, skin type and individual clinical needs.

This video shows one of Dr Sharp’s breast reduction patients at 3 months and 12 months after surgery. The change between these stages highlights not only the natural settling and maturation that occurs after breast reduction surgery, but also the benefits of our postoperative scar care program - which included regular LED therapy, three microneedling treatments and two IPL sessions.

These modalities have established roles in supporting scar maturation, particularly for patients who are prone to slow healing or a genetic tendency towards more prominent scarring.

Scar care generally begins in the week following surgery, with infrared light therapy, then progresses to microneedling or light based therapies if clinically indicated. Many patients will not require significant scar intervention, but for those who do, this can be a very helpful part of a comprehensive postoperative care pathway.

This patient underwent a post-partum abdominoplasty, mastopexy and breast augmentation - a combined procedure designed to address the physical changes that pregnancy and breastfeeding can bring.

But surgery itself is only part of the story. The quality of your recovery plays an enormous role in your final result, and we take a whole-person approach to healing. Here’s what the evidence supports:
- Nutrition: Protein, vitamin C and zinc are essential for tissue repair. A well-nourished body heals faster and with fewer complications.
- Light based therapy: boosts cellular energy (ATP) production, which accelerates healing, reduces inflammation and improves circulation. That’s why it’s included in our 12 month complimentary aftercare program.
- Social support: Patients with strong support networks experience less stress and anxiety and better pain management.
- Mental wellbeing: The post-operative period can be emotionally challenging. Seeking support when needed is a vital part of recovery.
- Lymphatic drainage: reduces swelling, softens scar tissue and promotes circulation
- Compression: Surgical garments support the tissues, reduce oedema.
- Patience: Full results can take up to a year. Scars take up to 24 months to mature. Trust the process and stay connected to your surgical support team for guidance.
We’re proud to support our patients not just in theatre, but every step of the way.

Our patient underwent a facelift, facial fat grafting and fractionated laser with a clear goal: a result that feels believable, balanced and in harmony with her overall appearance.

Dr Sharp’s approach avoids creating a look that draws attention for the wrong reasons. The eye doesn’t assess the jawline or neck in isolation; it takes in everything at once - skin quality, natural lines around the lips, the upper face, décolletage and even the hands. When these elements don’t align, results can look unusual.

This is why Dr Sharp prioritises subtlety and believability. Adjustments are made to the mid face, jawline and neck - but not at the expense of authenticity. The aim is refinement, not an exaggerated or overdone appearance.

This approach is valued by patients in professional or public-facing roles, where returning to work without attracting attention is important. The goal is to look well rested, not unnatural.

Outcomes vary based on anatomy and stage of ageing. Skin quality, previous facial surgery, weight changes and natural facial structure all influence what can be achieved safely and realistically.

To support a harmonised result, fractionated resurfacing laser, LED and scar microneedling is performed as part of our facelift approach, often alongside:

* Skin therapies for lines around the mouth
* Treatment for upper face static lines
* Ongoing skin maintenance to support skin quality

A thoughtful approach improves outcomes and reduces risks associated with over tightening.

Fast facelift facts:
* Surgery time: 4-5 hours
