Being trusted to care for people during the most vulnerable, raw moments of their lives, I feel, is an absolute honour, and it’s something many carry with immense pride.
​When I ask the question to various nursing communities if they feel nursing is a privilege, the responses are varied and powerful... They haven’t fallen out of love with the profession. They love working with patients. They love their skill.
​What is breaking them isn’t the work—it’s a system that expects their passion and goodwill to make up for short staffing, heavy moral loads, and missing support.
​Nurses shouldn’t have to sacrifice their own mental and physical health just to look after everyone else.
​That’s why we rally together. That’s why grassroots peer support, practical clinical mentorship, and initiatives like the Glow Up Co and The Scrub Hub exist, to ensure no nurse has to survive alone.
