Building confidence, one step at a time 💫

At our Ipswich site, Peter has been building his skills and confidence over time.

Over the past few months, he has worked consistently alongside the support team, developing new abilities and taking on more responsibility in his role. With each opportunity to practice and learn – and a real eagerness to take them on – his confidence has grown step by step. 📈

What’s been really great to see is not just the tasks Peter can now complete, but the way he approaches his work. He’s become more independent, more confident, and more willing to put his hand up to take things on. 🤩

Recently, Peter reached an important milestone – achieving his goal of working independently on new equipment. It’s a moment that reflects months of effort, persistence and support. 🚀

Stories like Peter’s remind us that meaningful progress doesn’t always happen all at once. It’s built over time, with the right support, the right environment, and the opportunity to grow. ❤️

Brodie is Help’s Manufacturing Manager – the person behind every metal product we build. From MailSafe to bin enclosures, storage units and advanced metal fabrication, everything we produce is guided by him. 🛠️

Having been part of the Help team for 12 years, he has contributed significantly to the growth of the manufacturing team and its capabilities over time.

But, as Brodie puts it, 🗨️ “it takes a strong, cohesive and expert team to make it all happen.” And he takes real pride in the people he works with.

The Help manufacturing team at Eagle Farm is made up of 16 supported employees and 16 non‑supported staff. Brodie works closely with all of them, supported by two supervisors who oversee day‑to‑day production. 🚀

“The key part of my role is to ensure that the team has what they need to work to a high level, while meeting the NDIS requirements and safety standards,” says Brodie.

Day to day, Brodie’s role is broad and varied – from coordinating with the admin team to keep operations running smoothly, to developing technical drawings, working with clients, contractors and suppliers, managing quotes, and improving processes to support safety, quality and production.

But what he enjoys most is seeing people grow. 🤩

“There’s nothing better than seeing our employees learn a new task, start working independently and build confidence in their work and their lives,” he says. “I’m also really proud of seeing the products they help build out there across the streets of Brisbane and Australia.”

Brodie is a strong advocate for inclusion in the workplace. When he stepped into the role, the team included seven supported employees – today, that number has more than doubled as the business and its capabilities have grown. 📈

For Brodie, working at Help is about delivering high‑quality work while creating an environment where people with disability can grow, contribute and succeed. ❤️

We’ve been busy at Help, with plenty happening across our teams and sites. Here’s a snapshot of some recent highlights 👇

1. We were proud to be part of Impact Boom’s Brisbane Social Enterprise Tour, welcoming a fantastic group of purpose‑led leaders to our Eagle Farm site to see our work up close and learn more about what we do. 💫

2. At our Ipswich site, we celebrated supported employee Peter as he worked towards greater independence in his role, taking initiative across a range of tasks. 🚀

3. We kicked off our Inclusive Employment Australia Steering Committee – a space for participants to share their voice and help shape the support they receive. 🤩

4. We wrapped up our Bin Chicken Bin Project, delivering a brand‑new bin enclosure to Aspley Special School as part of our competition. ♻️

5. At our Acacia Ridge site, we celebrated supported employee Andrew as he took on new responsibilities, including developing the skills to operate equipment such as the electric pallet jack independently. Well done, Andrew! 🎯

6. We officially opened our new laser cutting machine at Eagle Farm – an exciting milestone made possible through the support of the Annual Charity Lunch in support of Help. 👏

7. We welcomed Ronan Soussa, a participant with Help’s Inclusive Employment Australia services in New South Wales and a 2025 International Day of People with Disability Ambassador, to our Eagle Farm site during his recent visit to Queensland. ❤️

8. Over at the Nursery, we introduced Kenny, a long‑standing team member who enjoys propagating and dividing plants – and is exceptionally skilled at it. 🌿

9. We introduced our Youth Employment Assistance service in Gympie, opening more doors for young people with disability to explore their pathway into employment. 📈

We were proud to be part of the Impact Boom's Brisbane Social Enterprise Tour this week, welcoming a fantastic group of purpose‑led leaders to our Eagle Farm site. 🤩

Starting at Boronia Brew, visitors learned about our food and hospitality services before heading through our advanced metal fabrication and supply chain spaces – where the group saw our work up close and learn more about what we do. 👏

From metal fabrication to packaging, processing and food production, it was a great opportunity to share how our work creates meaningful employment opportunities for people with disability. 🚀

Thanks to everyone who joined us and brought such a thoughtful and engaged energy to the day. ❤️

Help Enterprises welcomes the proposed reforms to Australia’s employment services system following today’s announcement at the National Press Club.

We embrace any program reform that prioritises tailored, individual support for vulnerable people in our community. This person-centred approach is already embedded in how we deliver Inclusive Employment Australia, creating meaningful pathways to work by focusing on individual strengths and goals.

As the system evolves, we welcome the opportunity to consult with the Australian Government through the "Shaping the future of employment services" Discussion Paper. We look forward to contributing our expertise and aligning future national services with the successful outcomes we deliver across all programs.
