If there is light out, there is a form of energy. UV-Rays are out during winter and not only in summer. Think of it like this, when we turn our light switch on there is a form on energy that is being used. When we go outside and there is light, there is also another form of energy. UV-Rays don’t stop because there is no heat outside. They are around all year.

Sun protection still needs to be worn.

Did you know that having more than 50 moles can mean you are at a higher risk of skin cancer.

Those with multiple moles can find it hard to monitor their lesion if they are in places that are difficult to see such as your back, but imagine having multiple? Having multiple is difficult as new ones can pop up at any given time and we aren’t really keeping an eye out as there is just too many to focus on.

More moles means more pigment producing cells, which can possibly mean a higher chances of these cells turning into mutations causing skin cancer.

It’s really important to regularly self monitor but it’s also very important to have an annual check up with a professional. What we see under our scopes can be very different to what you see.

Stay safe.

Here is a picture of a blue nevus. These lesions are relatively common. Unlike most other moles, blue nevi are located deeper within the layers of the skin, which gives them their characteristic blue or sometimes grey appearance.

Although a blue nevus is usually benign, a blue or grey coloration can also be seen in some melanomas. For this reason, it is important to monitor blue nevi, as well as all skin lesions.

Multiple sunburns throughout your life increase your risk of developing skin cancer. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation can pe*****te the skin and damage the DNA in skin cells. Over time, this damage can accumulate, increasing the risk of cancers such as melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma.

Even if you’ve never had a noticeable sunburn, UV exposure can still cause skin damage. UV rays are present year-round, including during winter. Whenever UV radiation reaches the Earth’s surface, it can contribute to skin damage, even on cool or cloudy days. The risk depends on factors such as the UV Index, time spent outdoors, skin type, and the amount of protection used.
