✏️IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO REGISTER FOR NRG'S WRITING READINESS GROUP ✏️

Getting ready for Kindergarten in 2027? NRG’s Writing Readiness Group helps children build the foundational skills needed for successful handwriting and early writing.

Participants will develop:
✅ Pencil grip and control
✅ Drawing and copying skills
✅ Pre-writing lines and shapes
✅ Finger control and coordination
✅ Visual skills for early writing
✅ Confidence with paper-and-pencil activities

📅 Wednesdays at 9:00am
💲 $30 per session
👩‍⚕️ Run by our Paediatric Occupational Therapist
📚 Weekly sessions with home practice activities provided
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Small groups typically run for 6–8 weeks

Perfect for children who are still developing pencil skills, beginning to draw basic shapes, or not yet writing their name independently.

Looking for a fun and supportive group to help your child build important skills while having a great time? Our NRG Proactive Kids Group is designed for children from Kindy to Year 6 and focuses on developing:

💪 Fine & gross motor skills
🤝 Social skills
😊 Emotional regulation
🎯 Confidence, coordination and participation

The group is run by our paediatric physiotherapist and provides a fun, engaging environment where kids can learn, move and connect with others.

Meet Ann Marie, NRG's occupational therapist.

Ann Marie brings over 30 years of experience, from working as a clinician at the Broken Hill Health Service, to mentoring occupational therapy students through the University Department of Rural Health.

Although she specialises in paediatrics, Ann Marie has experience working with clients of all ages in a variety of different settings including hospitals, clinics and schools⭐️

Ann Marie can help individuals of all ages who face physical, mental, developmental, or emotional challenges to:
✅Regain or improve functional abilities
✅Adapt environments or tasks to support independence
✅Develop skills for daily living and participation
✅Enhance quality of life through purposeful activity

Ann Marie can help children by providing support to:
🖐️ Develop fine motor skills – cutting, drawing, pencil grip, buttons and zippers
🏃 Build gross motor skills – balance, coordination, and body awareness
🎨 Learn through play and social interaction – turn-taking, sharing, joining in with peers
🧩 Improve attention and emotional regulation – focus, following instructions, managing big feelings
👕 Increase independence – self-care, dressing, eating, toileting
🌈Manage sensory needs – coping with noise, touch, movement, and change
🏫 Prepare for school readiness - managing transitions and routines, confidence, and concentrating in group/classroom settings

Ann Marie currently has capacity to accept new patients through NDIS, Medicare Chronic Care Plans or privately. Sessions can be conducted at out clinic or at schools/preschools if required.

NRG's Writing Pathway Groups are designed to build the foundation skills needed for confident, legible and efficient handwriting.

Each group targets a different stage of handwriting development, from developing pencil control and early pre-writing skills, to learning correct letter formation, and finally improving letter size, spacing and organisation on the page.

Children will develop the skills and confidence needed for success at school, while families will receive practical strategies and home activities to support progress between sessions.

All groups will be run by our paediatric occupational therapist.

There is the option for sessions to be either at 9am or after school hours. At this stage we are only taking expressions of interest so let us know what option would work better for you, and we will lock days/times in based on whatever is most popular.
