Fishing of the Jetty

Fishing off the jetty used to be a standard Broome pastime.

Nothing complicated. A line, some bait, maybe a chair, and enough patience to sit there while the tide did what the tide does.

Some people were there hoping for dinner. Some were there for the company. Some were probably just there because there was not much else going on.

It is harder to imagine now. The port has changed, access has changed, and fishing off the jetty is no longer part of everyday Broome life.
