When I was a young fella I would go out to the bush and collect this plant when my people had bruises and inflammation or gout or arthritis sciatica we would lie to fire and hold the leaf over the fire. When a hand got too hot we would then apply this warm leaf to wherever we felt the pain instantly it would go away.
I’m an old fellow. I made an oil and an ointment and sell it down at Broome markets and Online at.

Fishing of the Jetty

Fishing off the jetty used to be a standard Broome pastime.

Nothing complicated. A line, some bait, maybe a chair, and enough patience to sit there while the tide did what the tide does.

Some people were there hoping for dinner. Some were there for the company. Some were probably just there because there was not much else going on.

It is harder to imagine now. The port has changed, access has changed, and fishing off the jetty is no longer part of everyday Broome life.
