๐ก๐ดโซ National Reconciliation Week 2026 kicks off from today and runs until 3 June.
Foot health is a critical but often overlooked part of diabetes care. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experience disproportionately high rates of diabetes and its complications, including lower limb disease and amputation. Resources like this are a vital part of changing that picture.
We're proud to highlight a meaningful step forward in closing the health gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet, in collaboration with SAHMRI, has launched a new foot health subtopic within their Diabetes Portal.
It's a dedicated collection of resources, publications, policies and programs designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have, or are at risk of developing, diabetes-related foot disease.
As podiatrists, we have an important role to play in our clinics, in our communities, and in our advocacy to ensure equitable access to foot care for all Australians.
