Last night was a Moving, Real and Raw presentation of the You Choose program which highlights the importance of considering the consequences of the actions you take when in a vehicle.

Being a parent and working daily with youth as the PLO at Project Booyah Mackay it was a very impactful presentation which will stay with me for a very long time.

As always, such a pleasure catching up with Mr Ken Rehbein, Stephen Smith, Nigel Dalton MP

Congratulations Booyah Rockhampton for supporting these young ladies making positive life choices! 🎊

Project Booyah Mackay will see 8 young ladies graduate from the program on the 24th of June.

These young ladies have shown resilience, strength and dedication to achieve great results throughout the program. The cohort will graduate with qualifications such as First Aid/CPR, White Card, RSA, Bridge Award and Teen Mental Health First Aid.

Our team is excited to watch these young ladies thrive into adulthood with the confidence and self-worth they have gained throughout their time in Booyah. The team will continue to support the graduates for the next 18 months with any employment, education, sporting or training opportunities that come their way.

Please get behind your local Project Booyah Programs throughout the state... Real people... Real results!

Having been involved with Project Booyah Mackay for a number of years and now working in this role has been amazing, witnessing first hand the transformation of the young people we work with. I love when I run into a past participant and they excitedly fill me in on what's happening in their world now... so proud.

HOW MANY MORE MONDAYS?

How many more Mondays are you going to wake up and tell yourself: This week will be different.... Then do exactly the same thing you've been doing for the last 6 months?

The same excuses.

The same procrastination.

The same drinking.

The same self-doubt.

The same relationship problems.

The same feeling that you're capable of more but somehow keep ending up in the same damn place.

Here's the truth most people don't want to hear:

~ Nothing changes because you want it to.

~ Nothing changes because you're thinking about it.

~ Nothing changes because you've watched another motivational video.

~ Nothing changes because you "know what you need to do."

⚠️Things change when you decide you've had enough of your own bu****it ⚠️

~ Not your partner's.

~ Not your boss's.

~ Not your kids'.

YOURS‼️

The moment you stop waiting for confidence and start taking action, everything shifts.

~ Your health.

~ Your mindset.

~ Your relationships.

~ Your finances.

~ Your purpose.

~ Your future.

I've spent years helping people rebuild their lives after addiction, trauma, loss, heartbreak, burnout, mental health struggles and life knocking them sideways.

And here's what I've learned:

The people who transform their lives aren't the most talented.

They're the ones who finally get sick of staying where they are.

So let me ask you...

How many more Mondays are you willing to waste?

If you've been sitting on the fence watching my posts for months, maybe this is your sign.

Book the conversation.

Not next week.

Not next month.

Now.

Have you ever felt like you don't quite fit anywhere?

Too much for some people.

Not enough for others.

Too loud.

Too quiet.

Too emotional.

Too ambitious.

Too different.

Too complicated.

For a long time, I thought belonging meant finding the right box.

The right group.

The right label.

The right place where everyone understood me.

But life has taught me something different.

Some of us were never meant to fit neatly into one box.

Some of us walk between worlds.

Different communities.

Different experiences.

Different identities.

Different chapters of life.

And sometimes that can feel lonely.

Sometimes people question where you belong.

Sometimes they don't understand your values, your choices, your journey or your perspective.

Sometimes they want you to pick a side when your heart can see value in building connection instead.

But here's what I've come to realise...

Maybe the reason you feel out of place is because you were never meant to stay in one place.

Maybe you were meant to build bridges.

To help people feel seen.

To help people feel heard.

To create spaces where people can belong.

To connect conversations that otherwise might never happen.

And while you're busy helping everyone else belong, don't forget this:

You belong too.

Not because everyone agrees with you.

Not because everyone understands you.

Not because you fit neatly into a category.

But because your worth was never determined by someone else's ability to understand you.

Bridges get walked on from both directions.

That doesn't make them weak.

It makes them necessary.

So if you've been feeling caught between different worlds lately, stop trying to shrink yourself into a box that was never built for you.

The world has enough walls.

Build bridges instead. ❤️

"Imagine hating someone for being kind to people you don't understand."

Not everyone will like you.

Good.

If everyone agrees with you, you're probably not standing for anything.

Some people will misunderstand you.

Some will judge you.

Some will make up stories about who you are because it's easier than getting to know you.

Some will be uncomfortable when you refuse to shrink yourself to make them feel better.

Let them.

You were not put on this earth to be universally liked.

You were put here to live your values.

To speak your truth.

To love your people.

To build the things that matter.

To leave places and people better than you found them.

And here's the part that took me years to learn...

People who are busy building don't have much time to tear others down.

People who are secure in themselves don't need to attack others for being different.

People who are happy don't spend their days trying to make strangers feel small.

So the next time someone throws their opinion at you, ask yourself:

"Would I swap lives with this person?"

If the answer is no...

Why are you carrying their judgment?

Keep building.

Keep creating.

Keep showing up.

Keep being unapologetically you.

The people who matter will find you.

The rest are just background noise.

Sometimes the tears come because a truth finally lands.

Maybe you're the strong one.

The one everyone calls when things go wrong.

The one who checks in on everyone else.

The one who keeps the family together, supports the team, runs the event, leads the meeting, solves the problem or carries the load.

And because you've become so good at being strong, people assume you're okay.

But here's the thing...

Even the strongest people need to feel seen.

Need to feel heard.

Need to feel accepted.

Need to know they matter.

Sometimes we spend so much time helping other people see their worth that we forget our own.

We focus on the criticism.

The mistakes.

The people who left.

The comments that hurt.

The things we wish we'd done differently.

Meanwhile, everyone else is seeing a completely different picture.

They're seeing your resilience.

Your kindness.

Your growth.

Your courage.

Your impact.

The way you show up when it would be easier not to.

The way you keep going despite everything life has thrown at you.

So if you need a reminder today...

One person's opinion does not define your value.

One criticism does not erase your impact.

One setback does not undo your growth.

And one difficult season does not determine your future.

You are more than your worst day.

More than your mistakes.

More than the stories you tell yourself when self-doubt creeps in.

Keep going.

The world needs what you bring to it, even when you can't see it yourself.❤️

"If this landed for you today, drop a ❤️ below or tag someone who needs this reminder."

There are moments in community work when you know you're part of something bigger than yourself.

Over the last 2 years or so I had the privilege of being involved in the creation of the Joint Regional Wellbeing Plan for Northern Queensland and last year in October it was launched. As someone bringing both lived experience and professional experience to the table, I can honestly say this was one of the few processes where I genuinely felt seen, heard, valued and respected.

Too often people with lived and living experience are asked to share their stories but not invited into the rooms where decisions are made.

This was different.

The Joint Regional Wellbeing Plan was shaped by hundreds of voices from across Northern Queensland, bringing together people with lived experience, First Nations communities, service providers, health services and community members to help create a shared vision for mental health, alcohol and other drug services, and su***de prevention across our region.

This week we have begun Phase 2.

As members of the Joint Regional Wellbeing Plan Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG), we are now moving beyond the creation of the plan and into the important work of implementation, reflection and accountability.

What is working?

What isn't?

What needs to change?

What are we hearing from our communities?

How do we ensure lived experience remains at the centre rather than becoming an afterthought?

These are the conversations we are now having.

One thing I love about this group is that there is genuine recognition that people contribute in different ways. Some process through discussion. Others through reflection. Some speak loudly. Others quietly. Every voice matters.

For me, this is what meaningful co-design looks like.

Not tokenism.

Not ticking a box.

Real people helping shape real systems that impact real lives.

I'm excited to continue this journey alongside an incredible group of people who care deeply about creating a more connected, compassionate and responsive wellbeing system for Northern Queensland.

The work continues. 💚
