September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️
This year, we are not sharing this simply to raise awareness.
We are sharing it because Tessa should still be here.
For more than 800 days, Tessa endured more than any child ever should, chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, stem cell transplants, immunotherapy, countless scans and hospital stays. She fought Stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma with a strength that inspired thousands of people.
But cancer was never who Tessa was.
Tessa was bright, sassy, creative and beautifully sure of what she wanted. She loved makeup, colourful wigs, crafting, glitter and everything pink. She adored animals, proudly showed off every new word she learned and made up songs so she could sing her way through the day.
She was the Perry’s precious daughter, Remy’s little sister and a deeply loved little girl who could light up a room with her laugh.
Thousands of people came together to fight for Tessa. They donated, shared her story, sent love and held onto hope alongside her family. The world saw her courage, watched her become Lainey Wilson’s Cowgirl of the Night and fell in love with the unforgettable little girl behind the diagnosis.
This year, Tessa lost her life to childhood cancer.
Those words are devastating, but they are not the whole of her story.
Her story is also six beautiful years of love, laughter, singing, sass and pink. It is the extraordinary community she brought together and the hearts she changed simply by being Tessa.
We will continue to speak her name. We will keep sharing her joy, her courage and the beautiful moments that cancer could never take from her.
Childhood cancer may have taken Tessa from this world, but it will never own her story.
Tessa was here.
Tessa mattered.
Tessa was, and always will be , so deeply loved.
She should still be here. 💛
