Passion for Empowerment is growing! We are seeking a passionate Support Coordinator and/or Recovery Coach to join our team in the mental health and community services sector.

We are looking for someone who is committed to empowering people living with disability and mental health challenges to achieve their goals, build independence, and thrive in their recovery journey.

✨ 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐒𝐭𝐒𝐨𝐧 πƒπžπ­πšπ’π₯𝐬:
πŸ“… Monday – Thursday
πŸ•£ 8:30am – 4:30pm
⏱ Part-time (minimum 30 hours per week)
πŸ”„ Flexibility available for the right candidate

✨ π–πžβ€™π«πž π₯𝐨𝐨𝐀𝐒𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐒𝐭𝐑:
βœ” Cert IV in Mental Health (highly desirable)
βœ” Cert III Individual Support (minimum)
βœ” Experience in Support Coordination and/or Recovery Coaching (highly desired)
βœ” Strong understanding of the NDIS and key stakeholders
βœ” Current Blue & Yellow Card + Driver’s Licence
βœ” A passion for mental health, recovery, and empowering others
βœ” Lived experience (highly valued)

We are open to the right person stepping into either a Support Coordinator, Recovery Coach, or combined role.

A big milestone for our team 🌱

This past week we officially moved to our new commercial office space.

What started as a vision to create support services grounded in understanding, advocacy, and lived experience has continued to grow into something bigger than I imagined.

This new space gives us room to better support our participants, families, and team β€” with dedicated meeting spaces, improved accessibility, and a place to continue building meaningful connections.

As part of this growth, we’ve also welcomed new team members and expanded our roles to include:
✨ Compliance and Intake Officer
✨ Finance Officer
✨ New Support Coordinators & Recovery Coaches

These changes strengthen what happens behind the scenes, allowing us to keep delivering quality support while growing sustainably.

It can feel confusing β€” and even a bit overwhelming.

Real talk: Life doesn't pause for plan dates

🧐 The NDIS keeps flagging the number of β€œunsheduled” plan reassessments as though participants are somehow overusing the system.

But when scheduled reassessments rarely seem to occur anymore, and plans are routinely rolled over for years at a time… what are people actually meant to do when life changes?

Because life does change.

Children grow. Disabilities fluctuate. Equipment breaks. Informal supports collapse. Housing changes. Health declines.

Participants can’t exactly put their lives on pause to fit a reporting metric.

So if scheduled reviews aren’t happening, of course people will need unscheduled reassessments.

That isn’t system misuse β€” that’s people responding to real changes in real life.

When the majority of plans are being extended over and over, a 20% reassessment rate honestly doesn’t sound all that dramatic.

How low is that number realistically expected to go? 🧐

Or should everyone just commit to never changing again? πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

A lovely moment from a recent visit πŸŒ±πŸ’š

RR recently moved into her first SIL home after a significant life change and it has come with a lot of adjustment.

During times of transition, having familiar routines and meaningful activities can make such a difference. Gardening has always been something RR enjoys, so it has been really nice to see her continue this passion in an accessible way with her raised veggie pod.

Today I got to see her newly planted lettuce and silverbeet settling into their new home too πŸ₯¬

Sometimes it’s the simple things that help create comfort, familiarity, and a sense of home during change.

A question we’re hearing a lot right now:
β€œAm I going to be kicked off the NDIS?”

The honest answer: no β€” not right now.

Most of the bigger changes (like new eligibility rules) aren’t coming in immediately β€” they’re being rolled out gradually over the next few years, with major changes expected closer to 2027–2028.

Right now, what’s happening is:
⚑️ Early changes to planning and processes
⚑️ More focus on how disability impacts daily life
⚑️Increased consistency in decisions

For people with permanent and significant disabilities, the scheme is still designed to support you.

We know the uncertainty feels heavy.

It’s okay to feel worried β€” but nothing is changing overnight 🀍

There’s a lot being said about the NDIS changes right now.
But underneath all the policy language, there are real people quietly asking:

β€œWill I still get support?”
β€œWhat happens to my child?”
β€œDo I have to prove how hard things really are… again?”

For many of us β€” especially those who are neurodivergent, living with trauma, or navigating complex mental health β€” this isn’t just reform. It feels like uncertainty, fear, and having to justify your reality over and over.

I’ve sat in that space.
Where your capacity fluctuates.
Where your needs aren’t always visible.
Where functioning on paper doesn’t match what it costs you to get through the day.

So if you’re feeling unsettled by these changes β€” that makes sense.
If you’re worried about access, supports, or what comes next β€” you’re not overreacting.

At the same time, information is power.

Understanding the shift toward functional evidence, tighter access, and more structured plans gives us a chance to prepare, advocate, and protect what matters.

You deserve support that reflects your real life β€” not just what can be easily measured.
