On 19 August 2026, Parliament passed the NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026, with Royal Assent given the following day.

Here's what you should know: current plans and supports continue as usual. The reforms affecting access, plan processes, funding use, provider delivery, fraud response and pricing will be introduced progressively, starting in the coming weeks and continuing over the next few years, alongside ongoing consultation with the disability community.

As a plan management provider, our role is to help take the administrative and financial complexity off your plate while these changes take shape, so you can stay focused on your goals and your choices.

Wondering how you actually opt out of an assigned plan manager? It's less complicated than it sounds.

Here's the general idea:
Step 1: Read the letter or email you've been sent. Note any dates or deadlines mentioned.
Step 2: Reply or send a short email saying you don't consent to the transfer. That's often all it takes.
Step 3: Reach out to a plan manager you'd actually like to work with, they can usually help take it from there.

Every provider's process can differ slightly, so double check the specifics in your own letter. But the short version is: staying quiet means you'll likely be locked in with the plan manager you were assigned, so it's worth letting them know you're opting out.

A short email is usually all it takes to keep your choice open.

Got a letter about changing plan managers?

Some providers are stepping away from Plan Management and moving participants to a new plan manager by default - unless you opt out. But an opt-out process doesn't mean you've lost your say.

Under the NDIS, you have full choice and control over who manages your plan. A letter can suggest an option. It can't make the decision for you.
