Swaddling is SO important in the first few months, helping to calm babies natural reflexes, help them regulate and help them sleep longer and more soundly!

Ni**le shields can be a wonderful tool and in some situations, can help save a breastfeeding relationship.

That said, if you’re using a ni**le shield or think you might need one it’s so important to link in with an IBCLC for some individual guidance.

Often ni**le shields aren’t actually necessary and when they’re not the right fit or aren’t being used correctly, they can create more challenges than they solve.

An IBCLC job isn’t to stop you using a ni**le shield — it’s to make sure you’re using the right tool for the right reason.

August 22 is Rainbow Baby Day 🌈

A rainbow baby is a baby born after the loss of another baby—a beautiful reminder that hope can exist alongside heartbreak.

If you’re one of the many parents who know what a rainbow baby is, or if you’re still waiting to meet your rainbow, I hope that day comes for you soon.

For those who carry both grief and love, know that it’s okay for those feelings to exist together. Your baby who was lost will always matter and your rainbow doesn’t replace them—they simply bring light after the storm.

If you’d like to honour your rainbow baby, I’d love to hear their name in the comments. 🌈

I will go first with my rainbow ‘Felix’

This is a little off my usual topic, but it’s definitely worth a shout-out. 💙🇫🇷

Three months ago, my husband, our children and I decided to open our hearts and our home to an exchange student. It has been an absolute privilege to welcome Sara into our family.

What an incredible experience it has been. We’ve loved learning about France, its culture and traditions, trying new foods, and being encouraged to get out and experience things we probably wouldn’t have otherwise. In return, we’ve had the joy of introducing Sara to our crazy, loud, loving family and sharing a little piece of Australian life with her.

Hosting an exchange student has been one of the most rewarding experiences we’ve had as a family. If you’ve ever thought about it or have the opportunity to do it, I couldn’t recommend it more highly.

Sara, thank you for becoming part of our family. We are going to miss you so much.

Au revoir, bon voyage et à bientôt. On vous aime et vous nous manquez déjà. ❤️🇫🇷🇦🇺

✨ Silicone Breast Pump – a simple tool with a big impact!

When your milk first comes in, your breasts can become very full and firm, making it difficult for your baby to get a deep latch.

A silicone breast pump can gently collect milk while helping to soften the breast just enough to make latching easier—without the need for a full pumping session. It’s a handy little tool to have ready before your baby arrives!

Check out the video to see how it works. 💛

Have you used one before? Let me know what you thought below! 👇

And to finish off World Breastfeeding Week…

Sometimes breastfeeding looks like a group of parents standing together—each having walked a different path. Different hopes. Different dreams. Different expectations. Different journeys.

Some breastfeed. Some express. Some use donor milk. Some use formula. Many do a combination of them all.

But every one of them is doing the very best they can for their baby.

One day at a time. One feed at a time. One drop at a time.

To every parent who has loved, nurtured and shown up for their baby this week and every week—well done.

You are amazing.
