Beautiful winter sunshine, great conversations, and a lunchtime spent catching up with local GPs to chat about all things gynaecology and fertility. Collaboration and communication between specialists and GPs are so important in helping patients receive the best possible care.

Sunday morning embryo transfers ☀️🧫

Fertility doesn’t follow a Monday-to-Friday schedule, and neither do IVF clinics.

Embryo transfers are timed according to embryo development and ovarian response, not the calendar. Sometimes that means an early start on a Sunday morning.

A big shout-out to our incredible embryology team, who work behind the scenes to ensure every embryo is given the best possible chance, and to my colleagues spending their Sunday doing transfers too. Special thanks this morning to Embryologist extraordinaire Dimitri and Dr Nicola Fitzgerald ☺️

A thought-provoking lunchtime session today at FSANZ 2026 exploring the psychosocial impacts of fertility treatment and what happens when the outcome doesn’t match a patient’s expectations.

Fertility treatment can be an emotional rollercoaster, and when things don’t go to plan, patients can often turn that disappointment inward — questioning what they did wrong, blaming themselves, or feeling that somehow their body has failed them.

As clinicians, it’s so important that we recognise the emotional impact alongside the medical journey. Success isn’t always within a patient’s control, and neither are many of the factors that influence an outcome.

Sometimes, the most important thing we can do is listen, validate, provide realistic expectations and remind our patients: this is not your fault. 🤍

Continuing to learn how we can better support our patients through every part of their fertility journey.

Three days of fertility-focused learning at the FSANZ Annual Conference in Canberra has begun.

A valuable opportunity to connect with colleagues across the fertility sector, bringing together doctors, scientists, nurses and allied health professionals from across Australia and New Zealand.

From the latest research and emerging technologies to evolving approaches in reproductive medicine, conferences like this are an important part of continuing to learn and improve the care we provide to our patients.

Proud to be part of a field that continues to evolve, innovate and strive for better outcomes for those on their fertility journey.

It may only be 10°C, but the sun is shining, and the beach will always be my happy place. 🌊☀️
