LIVING OUR VALUES in JUNE : WE ARE CARING

At Therapy Matters we genuinely care about your welfare and that of your child.

From our Client Services Team to our Keyworker, Therapy Assistants and Speech Pathologists, we take the time to understand our service from your perspective. We listen for what motivates and engages your child. We enquire about your life and how best we can recommend strategies and activities in between sessions that meet with your needs and your child's.

We care about our team and their well-being. We invest in the skills and health of our team through a supportive workplace culture and regular self-care nurturing experiences.

We care for our community through our dedication to philanthropy so that we can make a wider community impact that makes a difference in the lives of others.

I CAN DO THIS NOW!
You may be hearing many stories in the media about the NDIS and the lives of disabled people, especially the proposed changes and cuts in the NDIS and their impact on people with disabilities and their families. We want to be a catalyst for families to share moments of optimism and hope, and highlight what their children are able to do now with access to life‑changing supports. Now is a critical time for our community and government to hear these stories. Now is the time to ensure that no child is left behind to fall through the cracks of government reform and miss the opportunity to achieve their goals.

Every child’s progress looks different. For some, change happens quickly. For others, it takes time. Growth may appear as big breakthroughs or as small but all are powerful moments. Sometimes a goal becomes too challenging, or the timing and resources available to a child or family are not quite right. In these moments, stepping sideways toward a more functional, meaningful, and achievable goal can be exactly what supports progress and wellbeing.

With so much uncertainty right now around the NDIS and Thriving Kids, we choose to anchor ourselves to what we know to be true.

💕Therapy matters.💕

Therapy matters in the lives of children with communication difficulties and disabilities. We must never lose sight of the power of communication, the right to have a say in life, and the importance of continuing to advocate, support, and innovate so children and families get what they truly need - no matter the constraints or endless changes of a funding scheme.

Every child is unique, and progress will always look different. We are proud of the effort, persistence, and courage shown by our clients each and every day, and we are honoured to support families as these moments unfold. Big or small, every step forward matters 💛

Check out the comments where you can save your own infographic "I can do this now" and share with your friends and family all that your child can do now because of life-changing NDIS funding.

FUTURE VISION FEATURE: KATE
At Therapy Matters, this year we’re anchoring the theme of Future Vision. Despite the changes in the world at present, our team is looking ahead with hope, innovation, and wonder.

In both life and work, the way we think about the future shapes our wellbeing. Approaching tomorrow with curiosity and optimism sparks possibility, creativity, and motivation: not only for ourselves, but for those around us. A future-vision mindset reminds us that growth is something we create together, one thoughtful step at a time.

Today we celebrate Kate, our Client Care Team member who works behind the reception desk at our Burleigh clinic.

When we asked Kate about her future-vision ideas, she shared:
“I envision a world that moves at a gentler pace, where people feel less rushed and less pressured, and have the freedom to breathe, connect, and live simply. A world where the focus is on enjoying the present moment and the things that truly matter, and every person has what they need to thrive."

Kate has been part of the Therapy Matters team for 7 years. She is recognised for her masterful organisational skills and tetris juggling of appointments and services. Kate is the warm and compassionate welcome for our clients that come to our reception desk at Burleigh.

Kate shapes the future for our clients, team, and community through her strengths in diligence, organisational juggling and compassion.

WINTER SCHOOL HOLIDAY EXPERIENCES

Look out for the email in your inbox. BOOKINGS OPEN NOW!

Holiday group opportunities for children to learn, connect, communicate, and have fun in real-world settings, all under the guidance of our friendly and experienced team. These sessions are designed to support children to practise their skills in community-based activities alongside their peers

Our full-day programs are usually led by our talented therapy assistants, with experienced speech pathologists joining when needed to provide additional, personalised support for children with more complex communication or regulation needs.

What makes our group programs special?
In collaboration with your child’s therapist, we tailor each experience to support individual goals to help bridge the gap between clinic learning and everyday life.

We have the following groups available in Burleigh:
🤩Bounce Fun!
🤩Zoo Fun!
🤩Minecraft & Bounce Fun!
🤩Bowling Fun!
🤩Putt Putt Fun! NEW
And
🤩3 hour Brick POP! Brick Club in Murwillumbah NEW

They integrate your child's individual therapy goals into everyday settings, in collaboration with your child's speech pathologist. Every group is additionally anchored to achieve the following broad goals:
✅To communicate independently
✅To build friendships, teamwork, problem solving and negotiation skills
✅To develop self-advocacy skills to be in tune with and support your needs
✅To embrace your strengths

Because every child has unique strengths and support needs, there is always a matching process our team completes before confirming your child’s place, particularly if they haven’t attended one of our groups before or they have experienced challenges in group environments. Speaking with your child’s therapist is an important step to ensure the group is the right fit and to determine whether any additional supports may be helpful prior to or during the group program.

Michelle has been part of the Therapy Matters team for almost 4 years. She is recognised for her abundance of skills and wisdom on ways to help families as well as her calm, grounded and warm support for our clients and team. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Today, we celebrate the strength, love, and unwavering support of all mothers, in every shape, form, and circumstance. We hope that today, your journey, your love, and your sacrifices are cherished and honoured in special, heartfelt ways.

We are so privileged at Therapy Matters to share close, collaborative relationships with the many mums, grandmas, foster mums and step mums that visit our clinic, often over a period of many years. We so often marvel at the resilience, creativity, passion and dedication of these women and their dedication to their children with communication difficulties.

We would also like to acknowledge the many brilliant women on our team who juggle their work at Therapy Matters with raising a family. We wish you a lovely day with your loved ones. Thank you for all you do, today and every day.

Happy Mother's Day!

WHAT VACANCIES ARE AVAILABLE IN MAY?

Some vacancies are available for families with flexibility.

☑️In school hours therapy sessions on Fridays at Burleigh
☑️After school therapy session on a Thursday at Burleigh
☑️Initial Assessments on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday in June

Term 2 is often a busy term for our clinic as children settled back into their school routines and parent/teacher interviews commence. Popular services with high demand continue to include our parent planning pathway for children with disabilities, Murwillumbah services and on-site school services. Our team are working hard behind the scenes to accommodate the needs of these families.

Parent planning sessions are held with our Director for all children with complex care needs and disabilities. These parent planning sessions are the entry into our service for children with already identified disabilities in need of careful matching to our team and consideration of their intervention needs. If we don't have an immediate, just right, appointment sequence for you, we can often provide an interim service to get you started with goals and strategies with an experienced member of our team.

Therapy Matters invests time and care to carefully match child to therapist in terms of temperament, availability, family preferences, location and therapist expertise. The more information parents share about their child's needs, the easier it is for our team to make that just right match. While we have listed all of our available vacancies here today, some children may have more complex needs that require a match with a more experienced therapist. Our team will always be honest and transparent about these recommendations in our matching matters process.

HAPPY STAR WARS DAY!
May the 4th be with you!

In Star Wars, the Force is the powerful energy that connects the universe. It links people, guides actions, and creates understanding beyond what can be seen.

At Therapy Matters, we believe communication is that same kind of Force.
It connects people, builds relationships, and allows thoughts, feelings, and stories to be shared, truly making a difference one word at a time.

Our Director Tania is sending a big shout‑out to fellow Star Wars fans who, like her, love the galaxy far, far away. If you are curious about how Star Wars and Speech Therapy come together in practice, explore Tania’s blog post:

Because when communication grows stronger, so do connections.

May the Force be with you, today and always.

FUTURE VISION FEATURE: SHARON
At Therapy Matters, this year we’re anchoring the theme of Future Vision. Despite the changes in the world at present, our team is looking ahead with hope, innovation, and wonder.

In both life and work, the way we think about the future shapes our wellbeing. Approaching tomorrow with curiosity and optimism sparks possibility, creativity, and motivation: not only for ourselves, but for those around us. A future-vision mindset reminds us that growth is something we create together, one thoughtful step at a time.

Today we celebrate Sharon, a member of our client care team who works in our Murwillumbah clinic to make sure our clients and team members are supported, welcomed and kept in the loop about all our services.

When we asked Sharon about her future-vision ideas, she wisely shared:
“When I think of the future I want to live in a world guided by kindness, compassion and hope. Hope that people can build meaningful connections, and approach life with positivity and of course good humour."

Sharon is a valued member of our Therapy Matters team. She is recognised for her friendly, helpful and fun-loving nature. Sharon shapes the future for our clients, team, and community through her strengths in care, kindness and diligence.

While Sharon was keen to share her future vision with our community, she prefers to keep things low‑key when it comes to photos, so with her permission we created an AI portrait of her snuggling a teddy bear, her favourite toy. No matter the age, everyone can benefit from a soft, snuggly teddy to hug, to hold and to treasure.

Remember, the future isn’t something we wait for, it’s something we make, together.

LIVING OUR VALUES in MAY : WE ARE TRUSTED

Therapy Matters is mindful of the impact we have on our clients, their parents and family. We take the time to listen to others and understand their point of view.

We take seriously the trust our clients place in us to design a therapy program that meets their child's unique needs.

Our therapists are dedicated to life-long learning which equips them with a broad toolkit of resources to give confidence and trust to our clients that we will know what to do to help their child.

Our team delves deep into the changes in our world whether it be with technology through AI or funding changes with the NDIS, to ensure we can be trusted with a future vision that anchors our values for sustainability and quality care.
