Today we’re celebrating our Founder + Director Andrew’s 40th birthday!

Thank you Andrew for everything you bring to Back to Basics: your passion, your leadership, your humour, and the way you genuinely support both the team and the people we work with every day.

You’ve built something really special, and a big part of that is the kind of person you are - thoughtful, grounded, and always focused on helping others.

We hope today brings a chance to slow down, celebrate, and feel proud of everything you’ve created over the years.

Happy 40th Andy, we’re SO lucky to have you!
Love from the Back to Basics Health Group Family

On Monday we ran our very first Beyond the Basics: Independent Living Skills session! Our young adult clients worked together to make pizza while practising hands-on everyday skills like following steps, taking part in kitchen routines, sharing responsibilities, and cleaning up. The session also gave everyone the chance to build communication, teamwork, confidence, and social connection in a supportive group setting. We loved seeing them get involved, work together, and enjoy learning through doing.

If you’d like to find out more or express your interest in this group, please email [email protected].

On Saturday the Back to Basics team got together for our quarterly team building day with axe throwing followed by lunch, and it was a great chance to spend time together outside of work.

Days like this are always a lot of fun, but they’re also important for another reason. As a multidisciplinary team, strong working relationships make a real difference to how we collaborate, communicate, and support the people we work with.

Taking the time to connect in a more relaxed setting helps strengthen those relationships and keeps us all moving towards the same goal: supporting our clients and their families with the best quality allied health care possible.

We’re lucky to have a team that genuinely enjoys spending time together, having a laugh, and building those connections.

A fun afternoon, good food, and plenty of laughs all around. Its safe to say the teamwork was right on target!

Last week, on our first day back after the holidays, we came together for a team planning day focused on one thing: how we can better support our clients, families and carers in 2026.

We reflected on what’s working well, identified where we can do better, and mapped out practical ways to keep our support consistent, personalised, and easy to apply in everyday life, at home, at school, at work and in the community.

Big ideas, clear next steps, and a shared commitment to making everyday life easier.
Here’s to a great year ahead with this crew, and you! 💙

As we wrap up another big year, we just want to say a HUGE thank you!

To our clients, families, carers, and support teams: thank you for your trust, partnership, and support throughout the year. It means so much to us.

And to our incredible team: thank you for your dedication, care, and commitment to the people we support every day. We’re so grateful for everything you bring to Back to Basics.

These moments from our team’s end-of-year Christmas celebration capture what we value most: connection, laughter, and taking time to celebrate the people behind the work.

Wishing you a joyful end to the year and a positive year ahead.

From all of us at Back to Basics Health Group 💙💚

A month ago, our amazing Behaviour Support Practitioner Alison explored a community-based volunteering option for a student needing a different way to engage with education across the week.

With his Mum, support workers, school principal and on board, today he started as an official member of the Poo Crew. With his uniform on and a clear purpose, he now has a structured, meaningful way to learn beyond the school gate.

Huge thanks to family, school staff, the support team, and the legends at Pinchapoo for making this proud moment happen.
