MenAble Australia Inc is a regional Western Australia Men’s Health and Wellbeing not-for-profit organisation. The local community has come together via this group to help address the challenges men and boys so often face in being active, connected, and mentally resilient. Since 2019 the group has been working under the Man Walk Australia entity to help build social capital, combat isolation and im

prove health outcomes. For the community as a whole but with a particular focus on boys and men in our region. They established the first regional man walk in WA and progressed to outreach these benefits to the wider community. These activities have included community walks for up to 200 participants, free community events on health and wellbeing matters, establishing networks for new dads, documentary screenings, school incursions and activities focussed on combatting family and domestic violence.

Many thanks to Matthew Zoltan for recently doing 4 great sessions on Body Based Meditation in Busselton. Supported by Mens Talk AU the sessions provided an introduction to key concepts on the application of natural based meditation.
As well as working on on one with clients, Matthew has been running meditation retreats (under the title Quiet Retreats) over a number of decades in Australia and overseas. His approach brings a powerful approach to forging a deeper connection with our bodies as the pathway to physical and mental healing and wellbeing.
Participants were able to also benefit from access to his Undo App over the course of the sessions.

It was an honour to assist in hosting Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research team members in Busselton on Monday night for the launch of the Biota Pipeline research work into the development of novel cancer treatments derived from sea sponges extracted from around the Busselton Jetty.

What an incredible partnership with The University of Western Australia and Busselton Jetty.

The Biota Pipeline is working on identifying new potential drugs derived from nature and was initiated by a generous bequest from Esperance farmer the late Chris Reichstein.

Project lead Emeritus Professor George Yeah provided a great presentation on the community's role in research, the importance of research in Australia both economically and socially plus his work on stem cells and liver cancer.

It was concerning to hear from George that the recent budget saw a 4.3% reduction in research spending for 2026/7. A figure lost in the prevalent media coverage of changes to trusts, capital gains tax and negative gearing.

Sadly short sited where science and innovation have such great potential as growth industries with multigenerational benefits.

Many thanks Emeritus Prof George Yeoh plus other attending from Harry Perkins including Paige Gibbs FFIA, Shelley Mason, Richard Schoonraad and UWA researchers Prof Gavin Flematti and Dr Darren Holland.

Well done to the Harry Perkins team who joined 50 guys from the Busselton The Man Walk Australia Incorporated crew for a dawn walk on the Busselton Jetty.

MenAble Australia Inc were pleased to announce a collaborative fund raising initiative that will see a national online raffle launch in late June fundraising for the Biota Pipeline research on the Busselton Jetty Sponges plus supporting a program of free resistance training classes for people in the Capes region undergoing Chemo and Radio therapy.

Thanks to key sponsors Private Properties WA and GenesisCare plus a swag of regional businesses who have contributed to a luxury, adventure and wellbeing prize valued at up to $16,000 central to that fundraiser.

Many thanks to Shelter for their support of MenAble and the event.

Honour to have The Man Walk represented at the Invictus Expo in Baldivis today.
So good to engage with veterans and their families plus other stakeholders around supporting, connecting and activating veterans.
Keen to see more communities get on board in WA and create man walks that are open to veterans and non veterans alike.
Great to have the interest and support for the man walk and wider men's health interesfs from WA Senator Tyron Whitten who was a special guest at the event.
Well done Jason Bennetts and the Invictus team for pulling together a successful event.

A privilege to have Ash Garlett Penfold and Levi Islam down in Busselton for last nights Blokes Catch Up.
These guys are bringing such generous hearts and beautiful wisdom to the way they engage.
The sandlewood smoking ceremony, acknowledgement of our beautiful local country (whose traditional owners are the Wardandi people) and hearing the didgeredoo played on the balcony at Shelter set an awesome tone for a yarning circle.
All attending sharing about their roots, purpose and joy was a powerful platform for deep connection across the session. Thanks to all those who came along and embraced the the yarning concept in fostering a deep connection across the group.

Yarning has its traditional roots in Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander culture, but when one looks at its purpose and process, it seems it could be of value to all of us seeking to more deeply understand one another and our world.
Yarning involves storytelling, active listening, and collaborative dialogue to share knowledge, build relationships, and make decisions.
All men are invited to join us at Shelter from 5.30 till 7.30pm this Thursday 30th April for the next Blokes Catchup to learn about how all men can yarn. Hear from presenters Ash Garlett Penfold and Levi Islam with a Q&A to follow.
Register via the MensTalk Website www.mtalk.com.au/calendar/blokes-catchup-busselton/
Event presented as a collaboration between MenAble, The Man Walk and Men’s Talk.

Join us for a yarn at Busselton’s Shelter Brewing Co-where we will be joined by Ash and Levi from Corroboree for Life, talking all things culture and Australia. Free, Nibbles […]
