You never know how much it might mean to someone.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Did You Know?
Evidence shows that 86% of Australians would prefer to die at home, surrounded by their loved ones. Yet, only 17% are able to achieve this.

This is why the work we do matters so much. Our mission is to help more people spend their final days in the comfort, peace, and dignity of their own homes. ๐Ÿ’™

10 Surprising Benefits of Holding Hands with a Loved One. ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿค
~
One of the most basic and universal forms of affection is the act of holding hands. In fact, University of Virginia psychology professor James Coan has dedicated a whole college class to exploring why we do it. He says that humans hold hands for many reasons, but chief among them is the sense of security we get when we are holding someone elseโ€™s hand. A sense that we are not alone and that we belong.
Take a look at the surprising benefits holding hands with someone you love offers you.
~
1. Provides a Sense of Security
2. Decreases Stress
3. Boosts Oxytocin
4. Strengthens Your Bond
5. Relieves Pain
6. A Language of Love
7. Heart Healthy
8. Soothes Anxiety
9. Counteracts Loneliness
10. Syncs Brain Waves

Palliative care is a specialised approach to healthcare that focuses on improving quality of life for people living with a serious or life limiting illness.
It aims to provide relief from physical symptoms, emotional stress, and practical challenges, while supporting both the individual and their loved ones.

Importantly, palliative care is not just for the final stages of life. It can be introduced at any stage of a serious illness and can be provided alongside treatments aimed at curing or managing a condition.

Because palliative care isn't solely about end-of-life care, understanding what it really is and how it works can completely transform a person's healthcare journey.

Early access to palliative care can help people live more comfortably, maintain independence, make informed decisions, and focus on what matters most to them, while ensuring families receive the support they need along the way.

At its heart, palliative care is about living as well as possible for as long as possible, with dignity, comfort, and compassionate support. ๐Ÿ’œ

โ˜€๏ธ What a difference a few days can make!

After all that rain, how wonderful has it been to see the sun shining again? The beautiful winter sunshine has been a welcome reminder of the simple things that can help us feel better.

A little sunshine means a little extra vitamin D, fresh air, and an opportunity to get outside, stretch your legs, and soak up some warmth. It's good for the body, good for the mind, and can help support our wellbeing during the colder months.

At Lotus Palliative Care, we know that wellbeing comes from both the big things and the little things. We hope you're enjoying this glorious sunshine as much as we are.
