This year’s theme, “Communication creates possibility,” reflects what speech pathologists see every day in practice. When communication and swallowing needs are supported, people have more opportunities to connect, learn, make choices, participate and thrive. ✨

Speech Pathology Week recognises the incredible value and impact of speech pathology across Australia, and this year we’re highlighting how the right support can create opportunities for people to live more connected, inclusive and fulfilling lives.

At Leaps and Bounds Disability Services, we are incredibly lucky to have such a brilliant speech pathology team! 💕 Their knowledge, passion and dedication help turn possibility into opportunity every day for the people we support.

From building communication skills and confidence, to supporting participation, inclusion and wellbeing, our Speechies play such an important role in helping people have their voices heard and their choices respected. 🌟

🌼 Celebrating Daffodil Day Together! 🌼

The Leaps and Bounds team came together today to celebrate Daffodil Day with a beautiful morning tea lovingly put together by our amazing AHA, Kath. 💛

Many of us have been affected by cancer in some way, making this day particularly meaningful. The daffodil is a symbol of hope, renewal, resilience, survival and new beginnings. 🌼

A big thank you to Kath for creating such a beautiful morning tea and bringing our team together to share, reflect and celebrate. 💛

Hi Leaps and Bounds Families!

Go and check out what our friends from Variety - the Children's Charity of Queensland are providing for families.

One of the amazing programs is the Motor Mouth Camp!

Motor Mouth Camp supports children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems, alongside their families.

AAC includes any way of communicating other than speech, helping children express themselves and connect with others in meaningful ways. Through fun, supported activities, children build confidence using their AAC systems, while families learn and grow together.

Last year’s camp was a true highlight – and this year’s theme is “Welcome to the Jungle”.

Today is a huge milestone for Haiden! He has just received his very first specialised bike! 🚲

After NDIS declined funding, our amazing Physio team knew there had to be another way!

Thanks to a wonderful grant from Variety - the Children's Charity of Queensland, Haiden now has a brand-new set of wheels!

This bike is so much more than transport. It’s giving Haiden independence, opportunity, and a fun new way to support his physiotherapy journey while helping him and his family feel even more connected to their community.

When we spoke to his mum, she was overflowing with excitement, they are so grateful that they can now share these moments together as a family, and thrilled that Haiden gets to simply be a kid and enjoy the freedom he deserves.

They’re already planning their first adventure: a ride to the local shop for a Slurpee or an ice block.

A huge thank you to Variety Queensland for helping make Haiden’s dream come true and to the team at EveryBody Electric Bikes for amazing customer service!
