DO YOU HAVE CAPACITY BUILDING FUNDING?

09 — Increased Social & Community Participation

011 — Improved Relationships

Not sure what you can actually use it for?

**WOW Supports has structured skill-building programs designed around YOU or your loved one that can be altered to your individual goals to best fit you/ your loved one. **

These aren’t simply social outings or traditional support work. WHY KNOWING THIS MATTERS

Capacity Building funding can sometimes be misunderstood as simply having a support worker available for those hours.

But there is so much more possibility and responsibility as a provider within these supports.

The focus is on building skills — not just providing support.

At WOW Supports, we actively plan how each person can work towards their goals and develop the skills they want to build.

That might involve visual resources, demonstrations, role play, practical activities, real-life practice, repetition or finding different ways to make a skill accessible.

We have structured programs and resources, but how we deliver them is individual.

Everyone learns differently, so we adapt the approach to your abilities, interests, pace and goals — while tracking progress along the way.

The aim is simple: use your support time to build skills, confidence and greater independence in a way that works for you.

Our programs can be tailored to your individual goals and the skills you want to develop — with:

✓ A clear skill-building focus
✓ Individual goals and outcomes
✓ Structured support and learning
✓ Opportunities to practise skills in real-life settings , increase social skills and building and maintaining friendships
✓ Progress tracking and reporting
✓ Programs tailored to individual support needs

We discuss with you what you / your loved one wants to learn, build or achieve.
We help create the pathway along side with our programs to practise it.

From social confidence and communication to independence, relationships, community participation and everyday life skills.

**Ask WOW Supports about our Capacity Building programs and how we may be able to assist you/ your loved one. **

What a day!
A huge thankyou to everyone who stopped by our stand at the Cairns Disability Network expo yesterday!
It was such a fantastic day connecting with Support Coordinators, providers, families, participants, and the wider community! And what made the day even more special was celebrating Working On Wonders Supports turning One! We’re so grateful for everyone that has supported us, connected with us and been part of the journey!
And of course a special shout out to the CDN committee for organising another hugely successful event with 130 providers coming together under one roof.. thankyou!

WOW Supports turns ONE! 🤎

And what a wild, beautiful, exhausting and incredibly rewarding year it has been.

WOW was born from three women who had seen and experienced things in the disability sector that we simply couldn’t accept. We spoke up, resigned, reported what needed to be reported — and eventually thought, maybe if we want it done differently, we need to do it ourselves.

So we did.

We built WOW from a belief that people with disabilities deserve higher standards, genuine care, respect and to be treated like people first.

But we knew very quickly that three women couldn’t do this alone.

To every single one of our workers who has joined WOW this year — thank you. 🤎 Thank you for showing up, for caring, for going the extra mile, for celebrating the wins and standing beside our participants through the hard days. The beautiful feedback we receive about our workers makes me unbelievably proud. You are the people who bring our vision to life every single day.

And I could never have done this without Cindy Stevenson and Lauren Dillon, who show up with strength when I have none left, go above and beyond for our participants and support me on the days when I genuinely don’t know how I’m going to oversee it all.

And to my husband Anthony Vink, who stands beside me through it all, encourages my passion, reminds me to keep going and keep fighting, and supports me in every possible way to help turn my crazy dreams into reality — I couldn’t do this without you. 🤎

Then there are our incredible participants and families.

The wins we celebrate together. The hard days we navigate together. The friendships, confidence, laughter and moments that remind us exactly why we do this.

And my little baby, WOW Connect — our not-so-ordinary program designed to actually practise the skills people need to build confidence, social understanding, relationships and connection. Seeing the outcomes first-hand has been incredibly special.

The truth is, my heart is full, my body is tired and my head spins most days 😂 — but I am so incredibly proud of what we have created in just one year.

Thank you to every participant, family, worker, team member and person who has believed in WOW.

We started with a crazy idea that we could do better.

One year later, I think we’re proving that we can.

Happy 1st Birthday, WOW Supports. 🤎

Here’s to many more years of working on wonders — together.

✨ LAST WEEK AT WOW CONNECT! ✨

What a week of teamwork, friendships, new experiences and plenty of fun!

Our groups were all about getting involved, trying something different and building confidence through everyday experiences. From working together and supporting one another, to making new connections and stepping outside comfort zones, there were so many little wins to celebrate! 🙌

🌟 Teamwork
🤝 Friendships & connection
🎯 Trying new activities
💪 Building confidence & independence
🌱 Developing capacity for a more active, fulfilling lifestyle

At WOW Connect, we believe capacity building doesn’t have to feel like work. It can happen naturally while having fun, meeting people, exploring new interests and being part of the community.

Because sometimes the biggest growth happens when you’re simply having a great time, giving something new a go and doing it together! 🥰

Here’s to more experiences, more friendships, more confidence and plenty more WOW moments! ✨

This is exactly what WOW Connect is all about: creating a welcoming space where people can connect, grow, and build skills for everyday life, all while having a great time.

We can’t wait to see what Week 2 brings! 🤎🤎
