You’ll be supporting NDIS participants to maintain safe, functional and welcoming home environments while helping people feel empowered and supported in their everyday lives 🏡

Two years of BETTAbility…and honestly, it still feels a little surreal.
This didn’t start in a boardroom.
No big plans. No funding.
Just a long chat on a random Sunday… and a few too many coffees ☕️

Three people with one belief that people deserve better. Better support. Better systems. Better humans in their corner. And from that… BETTAbility was born.

In just two years, we’ve built more than a service we’ve built a space where people feel seen, safe and genuinely supported.

There have been big milestones including becoming NDIS registered and moments that have challenged and shaped us along the way.

Saying goodbye to Brooke as Director was one of those moments. She was not only part of our team, but part of the heart and foundation of BETTAbility. Her impact continues to be reflected in everything we do.

These two years have taught us that growth isn’t linear and leadership isn’t always easy but when you lead with heart, you build something meaningful.

POV: You’re doing funding math in your head while someone is talking to you.

Them: “So what do you think?”

* Dividing Core across 17 weeks
* Subtracting 2:1 supports
* Factoring in therapy reports
* Calculating transport claims
* Whispering, “Please be enough”
Eeekkk: 70.23 x 12 x 38 weeks ÷ remaining plan value

Smile. Nod. Panic internally.

Me: “Today is an admin day. I will be organised, focused and productive.”

Reality by 9:42am:
☎️ Crisis call
💸 Plan funding has vanished into the void
🚪 Provider resigns via email
🔥 “URGENT” review request appears like a jump scare
📧 37 new emails… all marked high priority

Support Coordination: Where beautifully planned, colour coordinated calendars go to die.

PDA wasn’t something I learned from a textbook 📚
I learned it at 2am 🌙
In car parks 🚙
In school meetings 🧑‍🏫
In tears…hers and mine 🥺😭

I’ve walked this path as both a Support Coordinator… and as a mum whose child with PDA is now an adult.
And if I could sit beside my younger self on those hard days, I would gently whisper:
🗣️ She isn’t refusing because she doesn’t care.
🗣️ She isn’t pushing boundaries just to be difficult.
🫂 She’s trying to feel safe in a world that feels too loud, too fast, too demanding.

For years, I searched for the “right strategy.”
I thought if I just found the perfect routine… the perfect system… the perfect response… everything would finally settle.
🟣More structure.
⚪️More consistency.
🟠More effort.

But PDA taught me something far more powerful.
It taught me that:
💜 Relationship comes before regulation.
🩵 Autonomy isn’t defiance, it’s safety.
🧡 Collaboration builds trust where control creates fear.
🤍 Flexibility isn’t giving up , it’s choosing connection.

Some days were messy. 🫟
Some days looked like humour…when I wanted to be firm
Some days meant stepping sideways when everyone expected forward. ➡️
Some days success was simply staying connected🧡

Behind every “challenging behaviour” is someone asking in the only way they know how..
“Am I safe?”
And that question deserves compassion, not correction.

Understanding didn’t change who she was.
