I'm Vanessa Bartlett and I help busy, burned out people revitalise their body, mind and fitness without pounding the pavement. Fitness should be accessible at anytime but I see all too often the wrong types of fitness training programs being carried out by people who need a more nurturing, starter-friendly approach. As a busy personal trainer years back I hit the wall and lost my health in going through extreme fatigue and burnout, where I was extremely exhausted, demotivated unable to function properly in any life area for over two years. I had to strip back all the things I had learned at gyms and in the fitness industry and rediscover what health really was. Building back my fitness after not being able to walk more than five minutes was something important to helping my overall energy return from this burnout, and knowing how hard to push and when was key to ensure no setbacks. To divert a little into something not spoken too much about.

But I need to share this and will be creating a whole new IG account and am looking into starting a not-for-profit and/or possibly a business model around it to help more women.

Let me give you context.

A lovely friend gave me a small gift today.

A package of a few things just for me.

Not for my kids, but thoughtful things she knew I liked.

It made my day. I felt like I was seen and heard in a deeper way and that I matter as a person, not just for showing up as the mum.

You see, not to do a pity party but single mums are juggling alot that society do not see.

We are juggling a tonne of tasks, more than a regular couple.

We have to take on more mental load, emotional load, logistic load than people in 'regular' coupled parent situations.

After speaking to many single mums here in Sydney and even a zoom call with other countries, the stress is high yet we power through with a smile on our face when things go on behind closed doors that you have no idea about.

I will be sharing real, anonymous stories soon to make this more recognized within society.

The mental health of a single mum should be more supported within society generally, yet there is not much access to anything really in times of complete overwhelm and challenge.

I'm digressing, so back to this.

Today's gift made me think, you know what, all a single, overwhelmed mum needs is some food sent over, a baby sitter for a few hrs to go to a spa or a care package to feel she matters.

My wish for anyone reading this today is to put 5 mins aside and check on any single mum friend you know who is going through a transition of her situation. Check on her, not for a surface level gossip chat about a toxic ex, but to see what she needs with practical help now.

Then get a friend and chip in for a food package or a little gift like my friend did. It goes a long way. I'll be checking on 7 mums right now.

⚡️TIRED? 4 UNCONVENTIONAL ENERGY MANAGEMENT TIPS HERE⚡️

It takes a good look at the way you live, the interactions you encounter and how you manage stress resilience just as a start for rebuilding lost energy 😎

Alot, maybe.

But not really when you think of how many things we do that drain us.

Aside from the obvious of good food, and exercise, how about those deeper elements that uplift or diminish our energy output and availability?

Negative thinking and talking brings you down, positive and balanced brings you up.

Talking badly about others brings you down, helping out others lifts you.

I notice a big difference with my energy when I also include these 4 simple things that make me feel alive and grounded no matter what's going on.

How we treat ourselves and respect our boundaries and limits is crucial in this mix ⚡️

✨️NOT ALL BODIES ARE THE SAME, AND AUTOIMMUNE CONDITIONS CAN MAKE TRAINING DIFFICULT✨️

My client Danielle has been navigating perimenopause, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, sleep disturbances and more.

Plus the nerve condition her health professionals are looking in to.

'LIFT HEAVY WEIGHTS' they say for over 40s.

'JUST STAY STRESS FREE' for your symptoms to go away they say.

It's tricky when holding a resistance band could be a major issue that day for your hand and wrist joint 🙃

So how does one navigate this collection of health interruptions affecting your ability to exercise and recover?

With determination and persistence from both the client and trainer 🙌

I am so proud that my client Danielle is succeeding despite all of this.

She has: increased muscle tone and definition, reduced body fat, increased mobility, increased muscular endurance and stamina and is kicking it with feeling great in the workouts even though most days are literally an uphill battle with different pains in her body 💪

She honestly inspires me to be better and keep pushing myself to go beyond the norm and create real routines that work with these conditions, not against them.

Incase you missed it, we now have a theme with each schedule. I'll be getting these out monthly from now on so you can look forward to a plan that takes the guess work out of figuring out which videos to do 🙌

For me, exercise, health and fitness is such an integral part of how you live your life in other areas.

By doing workouts as often as you can, even a few minutes from home can absolutely change the way your mind is, or help you get through your weeks with more energy, a clearer head and a strong body 💪

I am going to be honest with you. I do not always get this right. 💙

There are days when I am exhausted and running on empty. Days when I am physically in the room but mentally somewhere else. And my kids notice. They always notice.

But here is what I have learned from watching them. Children do not overthink being present. They are just IN it.

When they are excited, they grab your face with both hands and make you look at them. They do not scroll through their feelings. They live them.

My kids have taught me more about resilience and showing up than any programme ever has. They fall over, they cry, they get back up. They show up for life even when life is hard. 🌟

That made me ask: am I showing up the same way for them?

I noticed I was reaching for my phone out of habit, even when my kids were right there talking to me. And I saw the look on their faces when I glanced down mid conversation. They felt it. Kids always feel it, even when they do not say a word.

So I made a change. You might have noticed I do not post as many stories anymore. I schedule my content in advance so I can be genuinely present with my kids in person rather than documenting every moment through a screen.

If you are sitting with someone and looking down at your phone while they are with you, they feel that. We all feel it.

Basic human connection is one of the most precious things we have, and we are slowly outsourcing it to a device. 📵

Our kids are watching us model what presence looks like. And right now, a lot of us are accidentally teaching them that a screen is more important than the person right in front of us.
I am not perfect at this. But I am trying.

Put the phone down. Look them in the eyes. Let them finish the sentence. Be the person in the room, not just the body in the room.
Our kids already know how to do this. Maybe it is time we let them teach us. 🤍
