🫵 Discovering your own medicine - one angle in to it. 🌿🍀🌳🍄
---
As babies and young children, we see the world and learn to be human through imitation. When we do it well we are applauded and encouraged. As we get older our inclination is to explore, try things out for ourselves, and push boundaries. If this is applauded and encouraged in this endeavour we start to build experiences and neural networks that support this throughout our lives.
Copy and imitate = applause.
However, when it comes to living the unique fullness of you, your thriving if you like, this unconscious program will limit you.
Stop copying or emulating others' work. Your unique medicine is never there. This copying, imitating, emulation is tantamount to self-disrespect and indicates limited self-awareness and rarely will yield your unique thriving.
For some, you might have to break all the rules, institutional thinking and so on. That for some is where their medicine may lie, but at all times, you need to take responsibility for what you express to the world. Expect the pushback, even initially the odd crushing from here or there. You will be tested, and at all times only you can be responsible for the tone, delivery, ethics, timing, energetics and audience of your expressions and therapeutics. Maintaining balance in that new territory can only come by your own discernment, no one else can do that for you. It will be a steep learning curve for most.
These tests will be from within and without. The body pushes back on change. Institutions and competitors will protect their interests, naturally. These will hone and sharpen your medicine and client base. Those clients who share that initial journey with you are often very special people.
So, it's not easy. But at the same time, maybe the most rewarding and meaningful experience of your life.
Keep going.
Warm regards,
Brad and Caroline
