As we enter the winter months, health messaging is pointing towards one thing in particular. Prevention matters. We know most preventative health measures can't be achieved in one appointment and instead are often a chain of small actions, taken early enough to make a difference. We know prevention does not mean the same thing for everyone.

Recent outbreaks remind us why prevention matters with booster vaccinations, seasonal flu vaccination and clear public health information all helping to reduce preventable illness. But prevention only works when people know what is available to them, what they are eligible for, what it may cost, and how to access it.

If we are serious about improving health outcomes, prevention can no longer be treated as an optional extra. CHF is calling on governments to prioritise health prevention as a core part of the health system so consumers can act and reap the benefits. Share the ways you'll be managing health prevention this year.

CHF has launched a new logo as we enter our 40th year! Our origins sit alongside a powerful period of consumer and community health advocacy, including the response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, where CHF was first funded in the 1986–87 Federal Budget.

We are proud of the impact made over the past four decades and remain committed to advocating for positive change.

Over the next 12 months, look out for a range of activities marking this milestone, and share how CHF has played a role in your life by commenting below.

Our final CHF Talks webinar for 2025/26 was hosted on Tuesday by a panel of consumers, advocates and professionals. Opened by CHF CEO, Dr Elizabeth Deveny, the panel looked into the ways both social and commercial determinants of health can impact the healthcare people receive.

Joining the panel were CHF Consumer Assembly members and advocates Heidi La-Paglia and Suresh Rajan with researcher, Dr Jenn Lacy-Nichols. We thank the panel for sharing their expertise, reflections and initiating some important conversations around influences on care.
