BPD Awareness ACT BPD Awareness ACT works within Canberra to raise awareness of BPD and support the BPD Community

BPD Awareness ACT has been established to work within the Canberra Community to educate and raise awareness of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) in order to reduce the stigma and provide a better understanding of BPD to our local community. We provide information services, and peer support, for people living with BPD, their families and loved ones. We also provide awareness raising seminars, on BPD and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), within the Canberra Community, that can be tailored to meet your needs. We aim to share the latest global research, knowledge and evidenced based programs with the BPD Community in Canberra.

BPD Awareness Week 2026 | Connection Affirmation Cards

This year for BPD Awareness Week, we have developed three sets of affirmation cards focused on the power of connection:

💜 For people living with BPD
💜 For family and friends of people living with BPD
💜 For professionals working with people living with BPD

Today, we're delighted to share the set created for people living with BPD.

At the heart of these cards is a simple but powerful truth:

BPD is a disorder of relationships.
And relationships can be the healer.

These cards are designed to offer moments of encouragement, reflection, self-compassion and hope. They can be used as part of a daily practice to strengthen connection with yourself and others.

A helpful approach is to read one card each morning, carry it with you throughout the day, and return to the affirmation and reflection whenever you feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or in need of reassurance.

📥 Printing tip: To print double-sided, select "Flip on Long Edge" in your printer settings.

We hope these cards provide gentle reminders that recovery is possible, that your experiences matter, and that you are worthy of understanding, support and connection.

If your interested we have some sets for sale @$10 for 24 cards - printed on thick card (The $10 covers the cost of printing and postage)

Affirmation Cards on Connection for Family and Friends of People Living with BPD 💜

Supporting someone living with BPD can bring moments of deep connection, as well as times of uncertainty, loneliness, and concern. That's why we've developed our Affirmation Cards on Connection for Family and Friends of People Living with BPD.

These cards are designed to support carers, family members, and friends in navigating common experiences of anxiety, confusion, grief and the ongoing work of building secure and meaningful relationships.

A helpful practice is to read one card each morning, keep it with you throughout the day, and revisit the affirmation and reflection whenever you feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or in need of reassurance.

Small reminders can help us stay grounded, connected, and compassionate with ourselves and others. 💜

Affirmation Cards on Connection for Professionals Working with People with BPD 💜

BPD is a disorder of relationships, and relationships can be the healer.

To support those working alongside people living with BPD, we have developed a set of Affirmation Cards on Connection for Professionals.

Designed for therapists, peer workers, support workers, nurses, case managers, social workers, teachers, and other helping professionals, these cards offer prompts for reflection and connection in the midst of complex and often challenging work.

Connection is not about fixing people. It is about meeting them with respect, consistency, and hope while supporting their capacity to build a life they experience as worth living.

We invite you to read a card and revisit its reflection question throughout the day, particularly when working with strong emotions, relational complexities, or clinical uncertainty. Let it serve as a gentle reminder to remain curious, compassionate, and hopeful.

Because meaningful healing happens not only through interventions, but through the quality of our relationships. 💜 Available for free downloadhttps://www.bpdawareness.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Affirmations_Professionals-final.pdf

Today, 1st October marks the beginning of BPD Awareness Week, a time to increase understanding, challenge stigma, and promote hope for people living with borderline personality disorder (BPD), their families, carers, supporters, and communities.

This year's theme, "Connection Changes Outcomes: In BPD, Every Interaction Matters," reminds us that recovery is not built on treatments alone. Compassion, understanding, validation, and genuine human connection can have a profound impact on someone's wellbeing and recovery journey.

Every conversation matters. Every interaction matters. Every opportunity to listen without judgement matters.

While awareness weeks are important, meaningful change cannot be confined to seven days on the calendar. Increasing understanding of BPD must happen in our workplaces, schools, health services, community organisations, and everyday relationships throughout the entire year.

Together, we can create communities where people affected by BPD are met with understanding instead of stigma, support instead of judgement, and connection instead of exclusion.

As we celebrate BPD Awareness Week, we invite everyone to keep the conversation going beyond this week. Learning, listening, and connecting are actions that can change outcomes every day of the year.

Real emotions. Real people. Real support. BPD is often misunderstood—and understanding is one way we begin replacing stigma with compassion. 🩷

More awareness. More understanding. More support.
