SIL covers the help. It doesn't cover the bills.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) funding pays for support workers to help with everyday tasks at home, like:

✅ Personal care
✅ Cooking and meal prep
✅ Cleaning and household tasks
✅ Medication support

What SIL doesn't cover:

❌ Rent
❌ Groceries
❌ Bills and utilities

These are usually paid by the participant, often from their own income.

Last week, Charlee and Sarah attended CR TAFE Kalgoorlie for the Jobs & Skills Centre - Central Regional Apprenticeship & Traineeship Information Session.

We spent the afternoon talking with locals about traineeship pathways, what support work actually involves day to day, and what it looks like to build a career in the NDIS sector.

A big thank you to the Jobs & Skills Centre and Central Regional TAFE, Hailey (pictured) for putting it on, and to everyone who stopped by for a chat.

Jobs & Skills Centre - Central Regional is running a FREE Apprenticeship & Traineeship Information Session in Kalgoorlie on the 16th September.

We'll be in attendance alongside the Disability Empowerment and Support Foundation (DESF) to discuss traineeship pathways into support worker roles and what a career in disability support looks like.

For those wanting to attend, you'll also be able to meet local employers, talk with TAFE lecturers, and see the campus, workshops, and classrooms for yourself.
