Plan managed? You may have more choice over your NDIS providers than you realise! 💙

In most cases, plan-managed participants can choose from both registered and unregistered providers. This can open the door to independent support workers, allied health professionals, local businesses and other providers who may be a great fit for your needs.

However, there are some important exceptions, as certain NDIS supports must be delivered by registered providers.

Our latest blog breaks down:
💙 When you can use an unregistered provider
💙 When NDIS registration is required
💙 Registered vs unregistered providers
💙 What to check before choosing a provider
💙 How your Plan Manager handles their invoices

Need help making sense of your NDIS funding? Disability Plan Services is here to help with Plan Management and Support Coordination.

“What can I actually use my NDIS funding for?” 🤔

It’s one of the most common questions we hear - and unfortunately, the answer isn’t always a simple yes or no!

Your NDIS funding may cover supports like disability support workers, certain therapies, assistive technology, community participation and disability-related home modifications. However, everyday expenses such as groceries, rent and standard household costs generally aren’t covered.

The key is understanding what relates to your disability, what fits within your plan and what meets the NDIS funding rules.

Our latest blog breaks down what the NDIS may and may not fund, with plenty of common examples to help make things clearer 💙

And if you’re still unsure, Disability Plan Services can help you understand your funding through Plan Management and Support Coordination.

Starting new NDIS supports? Before you get started, it’s important to understand exactly what you’re agreeing to. 💙

An NDIS Service Agreement sets out the details of your supports, including what services you’ll receive, how and when they’ll be delivered, costs, cancellations, responsibilities and what happens if things change.

Having a clear agreement can help prevent unexpected costs, misunderstandings and confusion, while giving you greater choice and control over your supports.

Not sure what to look for in a Service Agreement, or what to do if something isn’t working? Our latest guide breaks it all down in simple terms, including what should be included, whether you need to sign one and what your options are if you’re unhappy with your supports.

The 2026–27 NDIS pricing changes are now in effect, but what do they actually mean for participants? 🤔

The good news is that for most people, your Plan Management and Support Coordination funding remains stable, meaning you can continue accessing the supports you rely on.

While the pricing updates happen every year, they can often raise questions about your funding, your providers and whether anything needs to change. That's why it's so important to have a team who understands the NDIS and can help you navigate it with confidence.

At Disability Plan Services, we're here to do more than process invoices or connect you with providers. We're here to help you understand your plan, keep track of your funding, and ensure you're getting the most from your supports every step of the way.

You don't have to navigate the NDIS alone, we're here to make it simpler, clearer and less overwhelming. 💙

Life doesn't always stay the same and neither should your NDIS plan. 💙

A new job, moving house, changes to your health, losing informal supports or needing different services can all affect whether your current NDIS plan still meets your needs.

The good news? You don't always have to wait until your next scheduled plan review. In some situations, you may be able to request a **change of circumstances** so your supports better reflect your current goals and daily life.

In our latest blog, we explain:
✔️ What counts as a change of circumstances
✔️ Common life changes that may affect your plan
✔️ The difference between a plan variation and a plan reassessment
✔️ How to request a change and what evidence you may need

Starting new NDIS supports is exciting, but it's also normal to have questions.

💭 What services will I receive?
💭 How much will they cost?
💭 What happens if my needs change?

That's where an NDIS Service Agreement comes in.

A Service Agreement is a written agreement between you and your provider that clearly outlines:
✔️ The supports you'll receive
✔️ When and where they'll be delivered
✔️ Costs and payment arrangements
✔️ Cancellation policies
✔️ How changes or concerns will be managed

Having a clear agreement helps you understand your rights, avoid misunderstandings, and make informed decisions about your supports.

Remember, the NDIS is built around choice and control. If something isn't working, you have the right to discuss changes with your provider or explore other options that better suit your goals.

At Disability Plan Services, we're here to help you understand your plan, your funding, and your Service Agreements, so you can feel confident every step of your NDIS journey.

Read our latest blog to learn more about NDIS Service Agreements and what you should know before starting supports.

💙 Occupational Therapy: Helping you live life your way

When people hear “Occupational Therapy” (OT), they often think it’s just about physical rehabilitation, but OT is so much more.

Occupational Therapy is about helping you overcome barriers, build confidence, and develop the skills and supports you need to live more independently and participate in the things that matter most to you. ✨

From everyday tasks like brushing your teeth, cooking a meal, or managing fatigue, to bigger goals like returning to work, studying, or getting involved in the community, OT focuses on finding practical solutions that work for your life. 🙌

An Occupational Therapist can support you with:

✅ Building independence at home, work, or school
✅ Developing everyday skills like dressing, cooking, and personal care
✅ Improving coordination, fine motor skills, and confidence
✅ Managing fatigue, pain, sensory needs, or emotional regulation
✅ Exploring assistive technology and home modifications
✅ Creating strategies to help you achieve your personal goals

Every person’s experience with disability is different, which is why OT is always tailored to you. Your Occupational Therapist will work alongside you to understand what matters most, identify challenges, and create practical strategies to help you move forward. 💪

If your NDIS plan includes Occupational Therapy, your Disability Plan Services Support Coordinator can help you find the right supports and make sure they work together as part of your broader plan.

Your goals. Your choices. Your independence. 💙

💡 Are you making the most of your NDIS funding?

Many participants don’t realise they may be underspending their plan, meaning there could be funding available that isn’t being used to access supports, build skills, or work towards their goals.

So, how do you know if you might be underspending?

🚩 You regularly have a large amount of funding left in your budgets
🚩 You’re unsure how much you’ve spent or what you have remaining
🚩 You’ve delayed starting supports or cancelled services
🚩 You’re approaching the end of your plan with unused funding

There are many reasons this can happen - from not knowing what supports are available, difficulty finding the right providers, changes in your routine, or simply not keeping track of your budget.

The good news? Your plan is there to support you in achieving your goals. If you think you might be underspending, you can:
✅ Check your plan budgets regularly
✅ Speak with your Plan Manager or Support Coordinator
✅ Review your goals and explore supports that align with what you want to achieve

Your NDIS funding is there to help you build independence, confidence, and access the supports you need. 💙

Need help understanding your plan? The Disability Plan Services team is here to help.

Can mental health conditions be eligible for NDIS support?

The answer is yes. For some people, a mental health condition may result in a psychosocial disability that meets the NDIS eligibility criteria.

Understanding what the NDIS looks for can be confusing, especially when it comes to mental health. That's why we've put together a helpful blog explaining:

💙 Which mental health conditions may be eligible
💙 What the NDIS means by a psychosocial disability
💙 How eligibility is based on the impact on everyday life, not just a diagnosis
💙 The types of supports that may be available through your NDIS plan
💙 How Disability Plan Services can help you navigate your journey

If you or someone you care about is wondering whether the NDIS could provide support, this blog is a great place to start.
