❄️ Ice or 🔥 Heat — Which Should You Use?

Knowing when to use ice or heat can make a big difference in recovery and pain relief 👇

❄️ USE ICE for:
• New injuries (within the first 48 hours)
• Swelling or inflammation
• Sprains, strains, or acute pain
• After exercise or activity flare-ups

Ice helps reduce swelling and numbs pain.

🔥 USE HEAT for:
• Muscle tightness or stiffness
• Chronic aches and pains
• Before stretching or exercise
• Tense muscles and joint stiffness

Heat helps relax muscles and improve blood flow.

⚠️ General rule:
If it’s swollen → use ice.
If it’s stiff or tight → use heat.

Not sure what’s best for your injury? Our physiotherapy team at Assist Allied Health is here to help 💛

SHOULDER PAIN that won’t go away? It might be a rotator cuff injury 👇

Your rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that stabilise your shoulder and help you lift and rotate your arm. When it’s irritated or torn, even simple movements can become painful.

🚩 Common signs:
• Pain when lifting your arm (especially overhead)
• Weakness in the shoulder
• Difficulty sleeping on that side
• Clicking or aching with movement

💡 What causes it?
• Repetitive overhead movements (gym, work, sport)
• Poor shoulder mechanics or posture
• Sudden strain or lifting something heavy

🛠️ What actually helps? PHYSIO!! 😊
• The right exercises (not complete rest!)
• Gradual strength building
• Improving movement patterns
• Hands-on treatment

⚠️ Ignoring it can make it worse over time—early treatment = faster recovery.

If this sounds like you, don’t just push through the pain. Get it checked and start fixing the cause, not just the symptoms.

Book your appointment online today at www.assistalliedhealth.au—we’re happy to help. 😉

Did you know? 🤔
80% of adults experience back pain at some point in their lives.

Back pain is rarely caused by something “serious” — and staying active is usually one of the BEST things you can do for it.

In fact, too much rest can actually slow down your recovery ❌

✅ Gentle movement helps reduce stiffness
✅ Exercise supports healing
✅ The right rehab can prevent it coming back

If your back has been bothering you, don’t ignore it — but don’t fear movement either.

💬 Not sure what exercises are safe for you? Send us a DM or book in with our physios.
