National Stroke Week (3–9 August)

This National Stroke Week, we're encouraging everyone to learn the signs of stroke because recognising them quickly could save a life. Stroke is a medical emergency that occurs when blood flow to the brain is interrupted.

Remember F.A.S.T.:

🔹 F - Face: Has their face drooped on one side? Can they smile?
🔹 A - Arms: Can they lift both arms, or is one arm weak or numb?
🔹 S - Speech: Is their speech slurred or difficult to understand?
🔹 T - Time: Call Triple Zero (000) immediately. Do not wait to see if the symptoms improve.

Acting F.A.S.T. can reduce brain damage and improve recovery.

If you'd like to learn more about stroke, risk factors or prevention, visit the Stroke Foundation or speak to our friendly pharmacy team.

July is here, and with the colder winter weather, we're seeing more cold and flu-like symptoms circulating in our community. Symptoms can include a runny or blocked nose, sore throat, sneezing, cough, fever and headache. Influenza (the flu) may also cause muscle and joint aches, sweating, shivering and loss of appetite.

If you're feeling unwell, get plenty of rest, stay hydrated, and consider using a RAT test that can detect viruses such as COVID-19 and RSV. Help protect others by covering coughs and sneezes, washing your hands regularly and avoid touching your face.

Don't forget your annual flu vaccine, and if you're aged 75 years or older, ask us or your doctor about the free RSV vaccine.

If you need advice, whether it's a cough, congestion, fever or sore throat, our friendly pharmacy team can help you choose the right treatment and product. If you need further assessment or prescription medication, we can also advise on the next steps.

Call in to the pharmacy or give us a call. We're here to help you stay well this winter!

During June, our Intern Pharmacist, Carla, had the opportunity to deliver a diabetes education session at HASI. The presentation focused on understanding diabetes, healthy lifestyle habits, blood glucose monitoring, and sick day management.

It was great to see Carla engage with participants, answer questions, and support people in building confidence to better manage their health. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion!! ☺️☺️☺️
