Planning a rib tattoo? Here are a few tips that might make your appointment a little easier 🤍
✨ Breathe normally
Focus on slow, shallow breaths. Try not to take huge deep breaths or hold your breath — keeping your breathing steady helps minimise movement, which is especially important with fineline work.
✨ Arm above your head
I’ll usually have you lying on your side with your arm above your head. This helps stretch the skin and gives me a nice, firm surface to work on for cleaner lines and better saturation.
✨ We might be a little quiet 😂
As much as I love a chat, ribs are one area where I’ll usually ask you not to talk while I’m tattooing. Talking moves your ribcage! I’ll still check in with you throughout.
✨ Take breaks when you need them
Ribs can be a bit of a pinchy spot. There’s absolutely no prize for sitting through it without a break — just let me know.
✨ Wear something comfy + easy to move
Loose clothing is best. Think about what will give easy access to the area while still keeping you comfortable and covered.
✨ Eat + hydrate beforehand
Have a proper meal and plenty of water before your appointment. You’ll generally feel much better sitting through your tattoo.
And most importantly try to relax. The more tense you are, the harder it can feel. 🤍
Save this for your next rib tattoo appointment ✨
