Our brain needs nourishment too!

Omega-3s, vitamin D, B vitamins, magnesium, zinc & antioxidants all play important roles in brain function and mental wellbeing.

Evidence suggests that correcting nutrient deficiencies and using targeted nutrition support may be beneficial for mood and stress.

Nourish your body....
Support your mind...

Have you ever seen someone with low ferritin who’s been taking iron for months… but their levels still aren’t really improving?

That’s when I start asking: why?

Sometimes, it’s not simply that they need more iron.

We need to look at what could be interfering with iron absorption or contributing to iron loss.

One thing that can sometimes come up during further investigation is H. pylori.... a bacterium that lives in the stomach and can affect iron absorption and iron availability.

So if someone’s ferritin keeps staying low despite appropriate iron supplementation, it can be worth looking deeper rather than simply increasing the dose.

Low iron is a sign.

The next question is: what’s driving it?

Your mental health isn’t “just in your head” nutrition can play a role too.

Did you know that as a nutritionist, I can look beyond your diet and explore some of the nutritional and biochemical factors that may be influencing how you feel?

When supporting mental wellbeing, I may look at things like:

-Nutrient deficiencies or imbalances

-Blood sugar balance

-Gut health and the gut–brain connection

-Your individual diet and lifestyle

-Functional testing where appropriate

-Targeted supplementation when needed

Rather than giving you a generic list of foods or supplements, the goal is to understand what your body may be needing and why, then create a personalised plan that fits into your life.

And importantly, nutrition is one piece of the puzzle. I believe in working alongside your GP, psychologist or other healthcare professionals when needed.

Your body and mind are connected, so sometimes, supporting one means looking at the other too.

Your period is more than just a few days of bleeding....

When you come to me for a consultation, especially for concerns around female and reproductive health, I don’t just ask “Are your periods regular?”

We go much deeper.

I may ask about:

• When your cycle starts and how long it lasts
• How many days you bleed
• Whether your flow is light, moderate or heavy
• Whether you experience spotting between periods
• Clots and changes in your usual bleeding pattern
• Period pain and other physical symptoms
• PMS, mood and energy changes
• Changes in your cycle over time
• Your reproductive and medical history
• Nutrition, stress, sleep, movement and lifestyle factors

Why?

Because your menstrual pattern can provide valuable clues about your overall health and help guide further assessment.

For example, cycles that become unusually short, long, irregular, very heavy or prolonged can warrant further investigation. Heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding can also contribute to iron deficiency and anaemia.

As a nutrition practitioner, my role isn't to diagnose a gynaecological condition from your period.

My role is to listen to the patterns, identify areas that may need nutritional and lifestyle support, and recognise when further medical investigation or referral may be appropriate.

So if you've been thinking:

“My period has always been like this.”
“It's probably normal for me.”
“I just have to put up with the pain.”
...let's talk about it....

If you're experiencing menstrual or reproductive health concerns, book a consultation and let's sit down, go through your history properly, and look at the bigger picture together.

Healing isn't always found in a bottle....

Yes, nutrition, herbs, and supplements can be incredibly supportive... but don't underestimate the power of nature.

Spending time outdoors, getting sunlight, breathing fresh air, and slowing down can help regulate your nervous system and support your overallwell-being.

What's one way you reconnect with nature?
