Affirmations are lovely. Your nervous system however requires actual evidence.

It is not being difficult, it is just waiting for proof that the edgy thing you are asking of it is survivable.

And the only way it gets that proof is through experience. One small stretch at a time, one tiny contradiction to the old story at a time, until eventually the version of you that played it safe starts to feel less like protection and more like a habit you have quietly outgrown.
