Keeping goats... How does that sound?

You can learn the basics at our workshop on Saturday the 4th of July from 10 am to 1 pm.

Morning tea is provided as well

We will cover food, shelter, breeding, milking (try it!) , foot trimming, etc...

Goats are very entertaining and ours are friendly for sure!it is good to learn how to care for them before jumping in, as they do have different requirements than sheep.

We look forward to welcoming you then!

Book via our website at thedawfamilyfarm.com
Cheers!

This workshop is ran by Ana who makes delicious bread.

Having improved her recipe and technique over the last 10 years, she now shares it from our strawbale home in Chidlow.

You will be shown the steps, given the recipe, take dough to bake at home and also some starter, so that you can keep going!

Nothing beats the smell of fresh baked bread, and sourdough is so.much healthier!!!

Ana decided to call him Prince. A well suited name. His mum follows him everywhere, or he follows her, and he spent the stormy weather curled up in the stable, safe and dry..
It didn't take long for him to find the udder, front and back! Clever Prince!

That's it! All done within a few hours, we left her alone, and watched her from afar... And lo and behold... Florence gave birth to her third bull calf!

We couldn't tell if Florence, our Jersey cow, was pregnant or not.
She hid it so well!
We only started suspecting it a month ago and now we're sure!
Look at that udder!

Come and learn sourdough bread making, and go home with some dough to bake, a recipe sheet, and your sourdough starter.

We're in Chidlow, and the workshop is in our solar passive strawbale house.

You have time to take a stroll through the garden and greet the goats while the dough rises.
