To be like Jesus is to be humble, gentle, kind, loving, strong, firm in your conviction for your love of God, obedient & righteous. To be like Jesus is to be faithful, a healer, a teacher, a counsellor to be empathetic & loving towards others. Jesus was all about the truth & the truth of God & Gods word. He was able to discern & determine good from evil, light & darkness & right from wrong.

Jesus served others with such humility, grace & mercy & paid the ultimate sacrifice for the love of humanity. He persevered, had faith, had complete surrender to Gods will & showed immense grace amongst great scrutiny, hardship & barbaric torture for all of us. Jesus was & is the light of the world, our saviour, our home.

These characteristics of Jesus are to name a few as we all well know he was much more than these.

The least we can do is be like Jesus. Being more like Christ is the only one we need to be more like & emulate how He lived, in our own lives here on Earth.

“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

“Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬

Every day, multiple times a day, little alarms are triggered inside your brain. They make your stomach growl, your mouth water, or your mind become fixed on that which you crave. Cravings that need satisfying.

God gave us physical needs that mirror our spiritual needs, too. Needs that must be met to stay healthy and alive. Needs that must be satisfied over and over again. In fact, food is often used in the Bible as a metaphor for our spiritual needs (it's called "our daily bread" in Matthew and the "pure spiritual milk" of the Word in 1 Peter, to name a couple.)

The 4th beatitude, a promise / blessing Jesus made about God’s Kingdom, Jesus said this:

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
Matthew 5:6

Do you long for righteousness and justice? Do you desire the ways of God? Do you want to be someone who chases after that which can never truly satisfy in worldly matters, ie. money, recognition, success or are you someone who hungers and thirsts after God & be filled with His goodness & righteousness?

Jesus is Lord, the poor can be rich, the weak can be strong, sick can be healed and the empty can be filled. When we seek Him, seek justice & seek righteousness so we too can be filled with these ways of the goodness of God.

Jesus Christ not only holds the keys to “living water,” but He is the “Bread of Life.” So, when you feel Him prompting your heart—to fight for justice, to love the unloved, to stand up for what’s right (even when it’s not popular)—pay attention to His prompting and his will. When you feel God prompting you to stand up for what's right, pay attention. He wants to use you to represent Him.

He stands ready to fill you with everything you need, everything that is true, righteous & good beautiful souls.

All you have to do is ask God to give you a hunger for righteousness, a thirst for justice, and a craving for His ways to fill you with the righteous ways of God.

Everything around us—the world, the culture, the people—tends to applaud power and strength, independence and intelligence, boldness and superiority.

But in the third beatitude, a series of promises Jesus made about God’s Kingdom, Jesus highlighted something different, saying:

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭5‬

The English word "meek" comes from the Greek word "praeis." It means gentle, humble or submissive; kindness, and patience without the presence of malice or selfishness. In fact, when Paul describes the “fruits of the Spirit” (traits developed in His people by His Spirit), the words "meekness" and "gentleness" are often used interchangeably.

Understanding the original Greek helps us see why "meekness" is historically framed as a virtue of deep power and steady courage, rather than a lack of spirit.

But, let’s be clear: If such descriptions paint a frail and feeble picture in your mind, you can be certain that meekness isn’t weakness.

Meekness is strength under control. It's power submitted to God’s authority.

Now, if “meek” isn’t a word that you’d use to currently describe yourself, that’s okay. Jesus wasn’t speaking to those who had it all together—and He isn’t expecting a perfect version of us, either. Instead, He’s extending a blessing on who His people were (and are) becoming.

God is continually developing these beatitude traits inside of His followers. He's refining, sanctifying, and transforming us to be more and more like Him.

In Scripture, Jesus Himself is called “meek.” But as you probably know, He was far from passive, apathetic, or a pushover. Instead of relying on His own power—like summoning legions of angels to avoid hanging on that cross—He leaned into God’s strength and will and restrained His limitless power.

Jesus’ wants us to harness our strength for God’s glory and humble ourselves at His feet.

Remember, meekness is not weakness beautiful souls.

Today, we look at this 2nd beatitude, blessing from Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount:

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭4‬ ‭

As disciples of Jesus Christ & being in relationship with Him, we mourn over our sin, our wrong doings, the things we have done that we regret or have hurt another human being, ultimately hurting Christ in the ways we live & not according to his ways or will. We don’t minimise it. Justify it. Shift it. Or deny it. We own it. And we grieve it. The Holy Spirit grieves over our sins, if we don’t grieve, He grieves all the more.

Suffering that we endure in our lives, like the deep loss of a loved one, loss of a relationship, all these losses amount to a form of grief that it is natural part of our human reality. We are meant to grieve. It validates the human experience of sorrow, loss, and tragedy. It recognises that life involves profound trials, but assures that such grief is not meaningless.

Mourning also means having a tender, sympathetic heart toward the suffering, injustice, and pain present in the world. Instead of remaining indifferent or avoiding suffering, believers are called to care deeply about the pain around them.

While grief is a necessary part of life, no one longs to grieve.

Unfortunately, death, decay, and disappointment are a part of this world. But even in our sorrow and suffering, God stands ready to comfort us—in unique and meaningful ways that only He can.

The Holy Spirit is often called the “Comforter,” as well as “Helper,” “Counselor,” or “Advocate.” But regardless of what He’s called, it’s always who He is. Even in our grief, He’s always a God who has our best in mind.

And so, how does God comfort us? He does this through His Spirit, through His Word, and by working in and through His people.

If you have a relationship with Christ & are mourning a loss today, remember:

Jesus Himself promised that you will be comforted. He’s always good, He’s always faithful, and He’s right here, ready to help you in your grief, loss or season beautiful souls.

Two thousand years ago, in Galilee, Jesus of Nazareth climbed a hillside & started teaching people about the Kingdom of the Heaven —the renewed world God had long promised. This was called the Sermon on the Mount.

Found in the Gospel of Matthew 5,6,7. These three chapters of contain Jesus' most famous collection of moral teachings of the Sermon on the Mount, including the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12), the Lord's Prayer (‭Matthew 6‬:‭9‬-‭13‬)
and the Golden Rule (Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭12‬).

Jesus began His famous Sermon on the Mount with blessings commonly known as the beatitudes. Each beatitude structure pronounces a blessing on specific character traits and postures. The beatitudes are one of many of my favourite parts of the gospels & scriptures and a beautiful way to know that our moral character traits & the way we live our lives here on earth is recognised, valued & blessed by God in Heaven.

The first beatitude is:
“𝘉𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘳𝘪𝘵, 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯.” Matthew‬ ‭5‬:‭3‬ ‭

So how do we interpret this beatitude??

To be physically poor is to lack resources or material possessions. The word "poor" might trigger a mental image of someone who can’t pay their bills, can’t break free from the cycle of poverty, or can’t afford food, clothing, or shelter.

So what does it mean to be spiritually poor, and why does Jesus think that’s a good thing?

Those who realise their own spiritual poverty know that, without God, they are spiritually bankrupt. Those who are poor in spirit understand the desperation of their situation—that they can have nothing, do nothing, and be nothing without Him. Those who are poor in spirit recognise that it’s humility, not pride or self-reliance, that’s a common characteristic in the kingdom of heaven.

Those who are poor in spirit know that they can’t, but they trust that God can.

If we’re honest, some of us may prefer to be rich, comfortable, and self-dependent. We would rather lack nothing. But even if we happen to be financially stable or physically healthy, we cannot save our own souls.

Simply, we were created to need God.

So if you’re feeling weak, weary, or worn out, it’s okay. If you feel like you have nothing to offer, Jesus actually says that you are blessed.

When you have a need, He can meet it. When you’re not enough, He already is. And when you feel poor in spirit, you are in the perfect position to be saved and filled by God.

Over the coming days I will be sharing the rest of the 8 beatitudes (blessings) from Jesus from the Gospel of Matthew.

Trials are an opportunity to surrender to God & His will.

When you hold onto the faith you have in God in the chaos, God will pull you through anything that you experience in any season.

Trust in God, Have Faith In God, our one & only loving God who will hold you through it all. We just need to allow him to hold us through the tough times, through it all beautiful souls.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

Remember God Loves You, so trust in Him, surrender to Him, have faith in Him to walk you through it all, the trials & the blessings. 🙏🏼

Christ wants us to soften our hearts & forgive those that have hurt us or we have had a grievance with. Forgive others as God has forgiven us.

If we don’t forgive those that have wronged us, the burden of that weighs heavenly on our soul, mind & physical body beautiful souls. Unforgiveness build walls that restricts us from having full & loving relationships. Also, forgiveness releases us from the burden that clearly God does not want us to carry.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬-‭14‬

Morning Beautiful Souls, this is important to share. Ask yourselves: 𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙨 𝘽𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙇𝙞𝙤𝙣?

This post may trigger some especially those that don’t have a relationship with Jesus or believe in Jesus. So be bold in your Love for Christ, Be Righteous, Stand Firm, Pray Harder, Stay Faithful & Walk Boldly.

Here it is:🙏🏼

A lot of people want the comfort of Christianity without understanding the cost of truly following Jesus Christ.

Following Jesus is not about casually adding God into your life while continuing to live for the world. It is a complete surrender. A daily decision to die to your flesh, pick up your cross, and walk against the current of a culture moving farther away from God.

And the moment you truly begin living for Christ, hell notices. Because the enemy does not fear lukewarm faith. He fears believers who pray. Believers who obey God. Believers who speak truth without compromise. Believers who carry the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.

That is why the attacks come.

The enemy attacks your mind because he fears your peace.
He attacks your family because he fears your influence.
He attacks your purpose because he fears your obedience.
He attacks your faith because he knows what God can do through someone who fully trusts Him.

But Scripture says the righteous are as bold as a lion.

Not bold because life is easy.
Not bold because there are no battles.
Bold because we already know how this ends.

Jesus Christ already defeated death, hell, and the grave.

The enemy is not fighting for victory anymore; he is fighting from a position of defeat, desperately trying to distract, discourage, and destroy as many people as possible before his time runs out.

So do not be surprised by spiritual warfare.
Do not be shaken by opposition.
Do not mistake the battle as proof God left you.

Sometimes the battle is proof you are finally walking in the direction God called you to go.

Stand firm.
Pray harder.
Stay faithful.
Walk boldly.

Because the same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives inside of those who belong to Him, and darkness has never been able to overcome His light. Credit: T. Fortinberry
