Dry needling in action 🖐️

In this video, Senior OT Harrison Evans, uses dry needling as part of a broader treatment approach.

For patients experiencing muscle tightness, pain and reduced upper limb function, dry needling can be a fantastic treatment option.

Dry needling involves inserting fine needles into trigger points within the muscle to release tension, reduce pain and restore movement - it is different from acupuncture and targets the musculoskeletal system directly.

Finger strengthening doesn’t need fancy equipment 🖐️

A simple inflated glove gives you resistance you can squeeze between each finger - an easy, low-cost way to build intrinsic hand strength at home.

Great for grip training, post-injury rehab or just keeping your hands strong and capable.

Ever wondered what’s actually happening inside your wrist with carpal tunnel syndrome? 👀

This is the carpal tunnel - layer by layer. Each piece you see represents a structure that can be involved when the median nerve gets compressed, causing the numbness, tingling and weakness so many people experience.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the most common nerve conditions we treat and understanding the anatomy is often the first step to understanding why you’re feeling what you’re feeling.

Save this if you’ve ever been told you have carpal tunnel syndrome and want to understand it better 👆

A simple thumb stability exercise 👍🖐️

In this demonstration, OT Filion Zhu takes us through a simple pinch and pull putty exercise commonly used in hand therapy to help support thumb stability, strength, and control.

Targeted strengthening exercises can play an important role in managing thumb pain, improving grip function, and supporting everyday hand use.

Why do we love hand therapy? 🖐️🧡

The team’s answers say it all.

Hand therapy is such a unique field. The conditions are complex, the skills take time to develop, and the moment a patient picks up a cup for the first time after surgery - there is genuinely nothing like it.

Happy Hand Therapy Week to every hand therapist out there doing this work every day.
