💊 Your loved one is taking 8 medications... but when was the last time someone reviewed them all together?

Managing multiple medications can be complex, especially as we get older. Asking questions and staying informed can help families feel more confident about the care their loved ones receive.

Our latest blog explores the importance of understanding medication use and why regular reviews may be worth discussing with your healthcare team.

June is Aphasia Awareness Month, a time to raise understanding and support for people living with communication challenges caused by brain injury.

Aphasia can affect a person’s ability to speak, understand, read, or write, but it does not affect intelligence. Many people living with aphasia know exactly what they want to say, but may need more time and patience to express themselves.

In Australia, around 140,000 people are currently living with aphasia, most commonly after a stroke, traumatic brain injury, or other neurological conditions.

This month, we’re encouraging our community to:
💬 Listen with patience
💜 Communicate with kindness
🤝 Create more inclusive conversations

A denial from the National Disability Insurance Agency is not the end of the road. It is the beginning of a process most people do not know they have access to.

We have put together a step-by-step guide on what to do after an NDIS funding denial, from requesting reasons in writing all the way through to the Administrative Review Tribunal.

If you work in disability support, share this with the families and participants who need it most.

Sharing this from Reconciliation Australia as we step into National Reconciliation Week 2026.

700 choirs. 41,000 Australians. One song. That is what being All In looks like.

For those of us working in disability support and complex care, reconciliation means ensuring First Nations participants receive culturally safe, dignified, and genuinely responsive care. It means listening before acting and learning before leading.

This week and every week, we stand with that commitment.

🎬 Every Story Belongs to You

As an NDIS registered provider, Home Care Experts supports participants to live full, meaningful lives, and that includes being part of their community. Under the NDIS, Community Participation is a funded support, meaning eligible participants can receive help to access social, recreational and cultural activities just like everyone else.

That includes movies, theatre and the arts.
If you or someone you support is blind, has low vision, is Deaf or hard of hearing, more Australian cinemas and theatres than ever are making these experiences fully accessible.

👁️ Audio Description (AD) narrates everything happening on screen or on stage for blind and low vision audiences. It costs nothing extra and is available at major cinemas, live theatres, and on Netflix, Stan, Amazon Prime, ABC and SBS.

👂 Open Captions (OC) and Closed Captions (CC) mean Deaf and hard of hearing audiences never have to miss a word. HOYTS and Village Cinemas both run dedicated captioned sessions every week.

This is exactly the kind of community access our support workers help participants explore and enjoy, because independence and inclusion look different for everyone, and both matter deeply.

If you or a loved one is an NDIS participant and wants to get more involved in community life, we are here to help make that happen.

The way we speak to ourselves matters more than we realise.
One small shift in wording can change frustration into gratitude, pressure into opportunity, and mistakes into growth. Funny little brain trick, honestly.

At Home Care Experts, we believe mental wellbeing starts with compassion, not just toward others, but toward ourselves too.

“I have to” becomes “I get to.”
“I made a mistake” becomes “I learned a lesson.”
And suddenly the day feels a little lighter.

Positive thinking does not mean ignoring hard moments. It means choosing kinder, healthier ways to move through them.

Words shape mindset. Mindset shapes lives. 🌱

Accessibility is something we take very seriously.

It is not just about ticking boxes or meeting standards. It is about making sure everyone can access and engage with digital spaces comfortably and independently.

We are constantly reviewing our websites, systems, and digital features to make improvements wherever we can. From accessibility checks and usability updates to making existing content more inclusive, it is an ongoing commitment for us, not a one time task.

There is always more to learn, more to improve, and more we can do better and that is exactly why days like Global Accessibility Awareness Day matter.

Because accessibility should never be an afterthought. It should be part of everything we build from the beginning.

Happy Birthday to the one and only Maria! 🎉🥳

The office would honestly be suspiciously quiet without you. Thank you for bringing the laughs, the energy, the chaos management skills, and the kind of positivity that somehow survives meetings and deadlines.

From your hilarious moments to the way you make everyone feel welcome, you are a huge part of what makes our workplace such a fun place to be.

Wishing you a day filled with cake, happiness, laughter, and all your favourite things. You deserve it all!

Understanding High Behaviour Support in NDIS care is about far more than managing behaviours. It’s about understanding the person, reducing distress, building trust, and creating safer, more supportive environments for participants and their families.

In our latest blog, we break down:
• What high behaviour support really means
• How positive behaviour support works
• The role of trained support workers
• Why personalised care matters in everyday life

If you’re a participant, family member, or support coordinator trying to better understand behaviour support under the NDIS, this guide was written for you.
