One of the biggest misconceptions about birth preparation is that it’s only for the pregnant woman🙅♀️
After all, she’s the one labouring and giving birth.
But if you’re the support person, chances are you’ve been carrying questions of your own.
❓ How will I cope seeing her in labour?
❓ How will I know what to do?
❓ How can I actually support her when labour begins?
These are some of the most common concerns we hear and work on in our Yoga for Birth Workshop.
1. “How will I cope seeing her in labour?”
Understanding what is happening during labour changes everything.
When you understand the purpose behind contractions, the rhythm of labour, and how the body is designed to work, you move from feeling helpless and worried to feeling confident, supportive, and often in awe of what your partner is capable of.
2. “How do I actually support her?”
This is the question almost every partner asks.
You can read books, listen to podcasts, and scroll endlessly online, but what matters on the day is practical preparation.
You’ll learn and practise:
• Comfort measures and labour positions
• Breathing techniques
• Supportive touch and movements
• Helpful cues and communication
• Ways to create a calmer birth environment
3. “How will I know what to do and when?”
Many partners worry they’ll freeze, miss important signs, or not know how to respond.
In the workshop, you learn and practise together. You’ll understand what labour may look like, what your partner needs at different stages, and how to work as a team so you’re both aligned when the day arrives.
When both of you feel prepared, birth becomes less about uncertainty and more about working together with confidence.
