🔥 **Does healthier cooking sometimes mean using LESS heat?**

We often think cooking something hotter means cooking it better.

But foods don’t necessarily need extreme temperatures to become delicious.

**Sous vide** uses precisely controlled, relatively low temperatures for longer periods of time.

Why can that be useful?

🥦 **1. It may preserve more of certain nutrients**

Some vitamins are sensitive to heat and/or can leach into cooking water. Because sous-vide food is sealed and generally cooked at lower temperatures, losses of some nutrients may be reduced compared with certain conventional methods.

🥩 **2. Less moisture is lost**

Instead of repeatedly overheating the outside while waiting for the centre to cook, the entire food gradually approaches the target temperature.

The practical result?

Juicier meat and fish without needing as much sauce, butter or oil to make them enjoyable.

🌿 **3. Flavour stays inside the bag**

Herbs, garlic, spices and the food’s own juices remain together during cooking.

Try:

Chicken + garlic + rosemary + lemon 🍋

instead of automatically reaching for heavy sauces.

🌡️ **4. Precision makes consistency easier**

Once you’ve found the time and temperature you like, you can reproduce the result without constantly guessing whether dinner is overcooked.

And there’s an important catch:

⚠️ **Low temperature does NOT mean food-safety rules disappear.**

Safety depends on the combination of **temperature + time + food type + handling**, so validated sous-vide time/temperature guidance should always be followed.

💡 **Takeaway:**

Healthy eating isn’t only about *what* you buy.

**How you cook it matters too.**

📌 Save this if you’d like us to make a practical **Sous Vide Time & Temperature Guide** for chicken, fish, eggs and vegetables.

💧 **How much water do you actually need?**“Drink 8 glasses a day” is easy to remember—but hydration needs aren't identic...

💧 **How much water do you actually need?**

“Drink 8 glasses a day” is easy to remember—but hydration needs aren't identical for everyone.

Your needs can change with:

☀️ Hot weather
🏃 Exercise and sweating
🤰 Pregnancy or breastfeeding
🥗 Your diet
💊 Certain medications
🏥 Some health conditions

Instead of obsessing over an exact number, pay attention to practical signals.

**A simple hydration check:**

👉 Keep water easily accessible throughout the day.
👉 Drink regularly rather than trying to catch up at night.
👉 Increase fluids when you're sweating more than usual.
👉 Pale-yellow urine is often a practical sign of adequate hydration.
👉 Water-rich foods such as cucumber, tomatoes, melon and soups also contribute to fluid intake.

And if plain water feels boring?

Try adding:

🍋 Lemon
🥒 Cucumber
🌿 Mint
🍓 Berries

One useful habit: **keep your water bottle somewhere you can see it.**

Making the healthy choice convenient is often more effective than relying on motivation.

📌 Save this as your hydration reminder.

💬 What's your easiest trick for remembering to drink water?

*General nutrition information only. People with kidney, heart or other medical conditions that affect fluid balance should follow their healthcare professional's individual fluid recommendations.*

Ever opened the fridge, looked around, and thought...

*"I'm hungry..."*

But were you really?

Hunger isn't always caused by an empty stomach.

Sometimes it's your body asking for something else.

💧 Water

😴 Better sleep

🍳 More protein

🧠 A break from stress

The next time you feel like snacking, pause for just 30 seconds and ask yourself these four questions:

✔️ Am I thirsty?

✔️ Did I include enough protein in my last meal?

✔️ Did I sleep well last night?

✔️ Am I physically hungry, or just stressed or bored?

This simple habit can help you become more aware of your eating patterns and make food choices that better match what your body actually needs.

Remember: The goal isn't to eat less.

The goal is to understand your body better.

💬 Which one catches you most often—thirst, stress, poor sleep, or a low-protein meal?

📌 Save this post so you can come back to it the next time cravings appear.

🍽️ Most people don’t overeat because they lack willpower.

They overeat because they’re still hungry.

One of the easiest ways to improve your eating habits isn’t by counting calories—it’s by changing what goes on your plate.

A simple visual guide that many nutrition professionals use is:

🥗 **½ Plate:** Non-starchy vegetables
🍗 **¼ Plate:** Protein-rich foods
🌾 **¼ Plate:** Whole-food carbohydrates

Why does this work?

✅ Vegetables add volume and fibre, helping you feel full with fewer calories.

✅ Protein supports muscle maintenance and is one of the most satisfying nutrients, helping reduce hunger between meals.

✅ Whole-food carbohydrates provide steady energy and fibre, unlike highly refined options that are often digested more quickly.

You don’t need to make every meal perfect.

If you can improve just **one meal a day**, that’s over **350 healthier meals in a year.**

💬 What’s the hardest part for you when preparing a balanced meal?

📌 Save this guide so you can use it the next time you’re planning lunch or dinner.

🍳 5 Breakfast Swaps That Can Change Your Entire Morning

Many people think feeling tired at 10 AM, craving something sweet before lunch, or needing multiple coffees is just part of life.

Often, it starts with breakfast.

The first meal of the day can influence your energy, hunger, focus, and food choices for the next several hours.

Here are 5 simple swaps worth trying:

✅ Instead of sugary cereal, try Greek yogurt with berries and nuts.

✅ Instead of white toast with jam, try eggs and avocado on wholegrain toast.

✅ Instead of flavoured yogurt, choose plain Greek yogurt and add your own fruit.

✅ Instead of pastries, try oats with chia seeds and nut butter.

✅ Instead of fruit juice, eat whole fruit and drink water.

Why does this matter?

Protein, fibre, and healthy fats are digested more slowly than highly refined carbohydrates.

Many people find that meals containing these nutrients help them:

✔ Stay fuller for longer

✔ Experience fewer cravings

✔ Maintain steadier energy levels

✔ Reduce afternoon energy crashes

✔ Feel more satisfied between meals

A useful rule:

Before breakfast, ask yourself:

"Where is the protein?"

Even small improvements repeated every day can have a significant impact over time.

Which breakfast keeps YOU full the longest?
