Dear Sister Witches 🌹
Sitting in bed, nursing a head cold, I feel this is the perfect time to put fingers to keyboard and share what has been evolving and percolating within me.
I have always held a deep reverence for the wise women. The grandmothers. The women who came before us.
There is a deep grief and sadness within me as I write these words.
I think of the women of the Earth who dug their hands into the fertile soils of our Gaia. Gardening, pruning, tending to the sacred waters, cycling with the Moon, and living in connection with the cosmos as conduits of life.
The reverence I feel in my heart for their legacy is immense. Their rites of passage, their wisdom, their courage, their sisterhood, their strength, and their devotion to God, Source, Universe, the Divine, the Creator — whatever name they held for the greater consciousness they felt connected to.
Women who carried wisdom through their bodies, their hands, their voices, their rituals, and their sovereign hearts.
Women who shared what they knew, often passing it from mother to daughter, grandmother to granddaughter, through stories, ceremonies, and the quiet knowing that lived within them.
And I find myself wondering what remains within us from all that was silenced, suppressed, or never given the space to be expressed.
I hold so much compassion for the ways these patterns may still show up in the everyday woman, whether she is conscious of them or not.
In the way we:
🌹 Silence our authentic voice.
🌹 Struggle to feel worthy of what we desire.
🌹 Abandon ourselves to keep others comfortable.
🌹 Punish ourselves emotionally or physically.
🌹 Hold ourselves back from being fully seen.
🌹 Doubt our own knowing.
🌹 Wait for permission to become who we truly are.
And so much more.
I wonder how much of what we experience today is shaped by the stories we inherited, the environments we grew up in, and the patterns we learned to survive.
Perhaps there are ancient loops of consciousness that awaken within us at different stages of our lives. Patterns that surface when we feel unsafe, vulnerable, unseen, or unworthy.
Sometimes, these patterns can be felt deeply in our physical bodies, in the tension we carry, the words we swallow, the boundaries we struggle to hold, and the parts of ourselves we hide away.
Does any of this resonate with you?
I know this is part of why I was drawn to facilitating Women’s Circles.
And as I sit here, I realise I haven’t held a circle since May, when we gathered to co-create our Heal the Mother circle.
Perhaps these words are the beginning of something stirring again.
There is something profoundly powerful about women gathering in circle.
A space where we can arrive as we are.
Where we can be witnessed without needing to fix, perform, explain, or become someone else.
Where our voices are welcomed.
Where our stories matter.
Where we remember that we are allowed to take up space, to speak our truth, to feel what we feel, and to honour our own becoming.
Our voices are powerful. Our throat centres are places of expression, truth, and communication. The words we choose, the stories we tell, and the truths we allow ourselves to speak all play a part in how we experience our lives.
Imagine what becomes possible when women feel safe enough to speak what has been held inside for generations.
Imagine the healing that can begin when we stop abandoning ourselves and start listening.
Imagine what it means to honour our grandmothers, great-grandmothers, and great-great-grandmothers, not by carrying every burden they held, but by acknowledging their stories and choosing what we wish to carry forward.
Perhaps we can honour their lives by living more freely in our own.
To soften the old patterns.
To reclaim our voices.
To give ourselves permission.
To meet our shadows with compassion rather than shame.
And to create a different experience for the daughters and granddaughters who come after us.
Not because we are broken and need fixing, but because we are worthy of living with greater freedom, awareness, and love.
I would love to hear how these words land in your heart.
What do you feel we are still carrying as women?
What are you learning to release, reclaim, or remember within yourself?
If there is something stirring in you, please share it below.
Let’s open this conversation. Let’s bring it into the light. Let’s create space for the voices that have been waiting to be heard.
For the grandmothers who came before us. For the women we are today. For the daughters who will follow.
With love, always. 🌹
