Changes in energy, mood or motivation are common as the seasons change and it is often something that comes up in clinic often.

People don’t always come in saying they’re stressed or struggling with their mental health. It’s usually more subtle than that. They just feel a bit flat, a bit more anxious or like their energy and motivation have dropped off.

A big part of it is the seasonal shift. There’s less daylight, routines change, people tend to stay inside more and move less. Even social connections can drop off without really realising it.

Most people don’t adjust anything, though. They keep doing what they were doing in summer and expect to feel the same.

Usually this time of year calls for a bit more support, not more pressure. A bit more attention to sleep, food, movement, and staying connected can go a long way.

If you notice this pattern for yourself each year, it’s worth working with it rather than pushing through it.

If you need support during this transition time then reach out, both naturopathy and ERT can help with this.

As the weather cools, your body naturally shifts. Digestion slows, energy can dip and your immune system can be under more pressure.

What I often see in clinic this time of year is people continuing with the same habits they had in summer… and wondering why they feel off.

You don’t need a complete overhaul. But you do need to adjust. Think warmer foods, more routine, better sleep, and consistent nourishment.

If your gut, energy or immune system tends to struggle through autumn and winter, these are the foundations I come back to with clients again and again.

If you need more personalised support, you’re always welcome to book in.

If you’re constantly guessing what’s causing your skin issues, you’re not alone.

There are so many moving parts when it comes to skin. The gut microbiome, diet, stress, hormones and lifestyle all play a role. Trying to piece it together on your own can feel frustrating and overwhelming.

In clinic, we take the time to understand your full picture so you’re not just guessing.

If you’re ready for a more personalised approach, you can book a consultation via the link in bio.

Clear skin is often about consistency, not quick fixes. The gut microbiome doesn’t change overnight. It responds to what you eat regularly, how you manage stress, how well you sleep, and how your body is functioning overall. This is why quick fixes often don’t last.

Supporting your gut and your body consistently is what creates more stable, long-term changes in your skin.

Your stress levels could be affecting your skin more than you realise. Stress can disrupt your gut microbiome, reduce digestive function, and increase inflammation. This creates an internal environment where the skin becomes more reactive and prone to flare-ups. You might notice your skin worsening during busy or overwhelming periods. This is where working with the nervous system becomes important.

Techniques like Emotional Release Technique support the body’s stress response, which can help stabilise gut function and, in turn, support skin health.

Why skincare alone isn’t fixing your skin.

Skincare works on the surface, but your skin is influenced by what’s happening internally. The gut microbiome plays a role in regulating inflammation and immune responses. If that internal environment is out of balance, your skin can continue to flare regardless of what you apply.

This is why you might feel like you’ve tried everything, but nothing is sticking. A deeper approach often creates more lasting change.

Signs your gut microbiome may be affecting your skin.

Bloating or digestive discomfort
Food sensitivities
Irregular bowel movements
Persistent acne or breakouts
Rosacea or redness
Skin that feels reactive or inflamed

When gut symptoms and skin concerns show up together, it’s often a sign that the gut microbiome is out of balance and influencing inflammation and immune responses in the body. Rather than treating the skin in isolation, it can be more effective to look at what’s happening internally and address the underlying drivers.

5 things to look at if you’re struggling with your skin.

Your gut microbiome: The balance of bacteria in your gut plays a key role in inflammation and immune function.

Your digestion: Bloating, reflux or irregular bowel movements can point to underlying imbalance.

Your diet: Certain foods may be triggering inflammation or disrupting gut balance.

Your stress levels: Ongoing stress can impact your gut and, in turn, your skin.

Your sleep: Poor sleep can affect both gut health and skin repair.

Looking at these factors together gives a much clearer picture than focusing on your skin alone.
