⚠️ Have you checked your diphtheria vaccination status lately? ⚠️

Australia is currently experiencing its largest diphtheria outbreak in decades, with 117 confirmed cases between January and April this year - a significant increase compared to previous years. The largest proportion of new cases has occurred in adults 25-44 years.

Cases have been identified across the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Queensland and South Australia, with health authorities encouraging all Australians to ensure their vaccinations are up to date.

Diphtheria is a serious bacterial infection that can affect the throat, airways and skin, and in severe cases can be life-threatening. Vaccination remains the best protection.
