Too good not to share.
There’s something incredibly powerful about holding your baby skin to skin. From the very first moments after birth, your baby knows your heartbeat, your warmth, your smell and your voice — and being close to you helps them feel safe, calm and regulated.
Skin-to-skin contact supports newborns to stabilise their temperature, breathing and heart rate while also encouraging those beautiful early feeding instincts. Babies often cry less, settle more easily and feed more effectively when they are held close against a parent’s chest.
For mothers, skin to skin helps release oxytocin — the hormone connected to bonding, milk flow and emotional wellbeing. It can support breastfeeding, encourage connection and create moments of calm in the early newborn days.
Even beyond birth, these quiet cuddles continue to matter. Whether after feeds, during naps or in the middle of a hard day, skin to skin is a gentle reminder to slow down and reconnect with your baby.
Sometimes the simplest things are the most powerful 🤍
